Job Description

A rare opportunity has arisen to join NHS Resolution's national Safety and Learning team to support the regional clinical lead in London because the existing post holder will be on a career break for 12 months. The successful candidate will gain an in depth understanding of how clinical negligence claims can be used as a catalyst for safety learning and improvement by working with and strengthening existing relationships with health providers across London as well as building new stakeholder relationships to share claims learning.


The post is a hybrid role with expectation to work from the London office, home and directly with health trusts in and around London locations. Occasional overnight stays to support national workstreams may be required. Career development opportunities exist in the field of mental health and clinical education and so this is a strongly desirable attribute we are seeking to support our established projects in these areas. You will be supported with an induction plan, so you are empowered to build and maintain relationships with a wide portfolio of stakeholders.


The successful candidate needs to be a registered clinician (RCN,GMC,HCP) and will deploy a range of skills, key ones being:


A knowledge of safety systems and a flair for engagement and communication in a range of ways. Provide clinically focussed support to designated health providers in relation to their claims or safety profiles, to facilitate the reduction of their claims (following induction training). A solid understanding of governance, risk, audit, and a culture of safety and learning. An interest in the business of NHS Resolution and how it can support members. Support the delivery of a safety and learning service by contributing to creation of learning materials, participating in mediation and delivering internal training courses Support collaboration with partner organisations, e.g. other ALBs to share information pertaining to claims-related safety issues and learning and contribute to the development of tailored safety intelligence and profiles for members.

Candidates must have a professional clinical registration, and a Masters or equivalent training and experience in leadership, quality, human factors, patient safety or similar area of expertise e.g. academic research or quality and governance.
