The Safety Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring the company's Health & Safety strategy, with a strong focus on cultural change and team development. This role goes beyond compliance; it is about leading people, influencing behaviour, and building a confident, safety-driven workforce that supports our long-term growth.
You will work closely with site teams, supervisors, scaffolders, office staff, and senior management to create a consistent, positive safety mindset throughout the company.
Key Responsibilities
Culture Development
Help develop a proactive, positive safety culture across all levels of the company.
Work with senior leaders to mentor supervisors and site teams, building ownership and confidence in safe working practices.
Write and deliver engaging toolbox talks, presentations, and training sessions for both internal staff and clients.
Safety & Leadership Strategy
Develop, review, and implement the company's Health & Safety policies, systems, and procedures.
Lead continuous improvement programmes to align with industry best practice.
Drive initiatives to reduce incidents and improve safety performance.
Provide strategic input to senior leadership to support company growth from a safety perspective.
Company Compliance
Plan and conduct regular site audits across all live projects.
Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, standards, and company procedures.
Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses; produce reports and manage follow-up actions.
Liaise with clients and principal contractors regarding safety expectations and performance.
Collaboration & Communication
Work closely with the Operations and Contracts teams to embed safety into planning and resourcing.
Support pre-start meetings, RAMS production, and project risk planning.
Promote open communication, positive engagement, and recognition of safe behaviour throughout the business.
Skills & Experience Required
Proven experience in a safety role within the scaffolding or wider construction sector.
Strong knowledge of TG20, SG4, Working at Height regulations, and related industry standards.
Demonstrated ability to deliver cultural change or behavioural-based safety initiatives.
Excellent communication, coaching, and relationship-building skills.
Ability to engage and influence teams at all levels, particularly site-based staff.
NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate (essential) and actively working towards a Level 6 qualification.
CISRS Scaffold Inspector qualification (desirable).
