About the role

City Hospice is?seeking?a Sales Assistant to assist?the store manager to manage a busy charity store, one of the 6?operated by City Hospice in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan. The post holder is expected to?aid the store manager to achieve challenging sales targets, help effectively manage a team of volunteers and placements?and?promote local awareness of the charity. You will also?be required?to?promote?and?demonstrate?customer service?excellence and?maintain?high standards?throughout the store at all times.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:



1. Stock donations and processing

1.1 To always maintain excellent display and merchandising standards.

1.2. To support the store manager with implementing effective and competitive pricing in store, within the guidelines provided.

1.3. To ensure City Hospice branding guidelines are adhered to, ensuring that only officially issued 'Point of Sale' devices are displayed within the store and in the store window and instore.

1.4. To limit the amount of store wastage wherever possible, ensuring unused or recycled products are disposed of through the officially designated channels.

1.5 Ensure gift aid procedure is followed for all sales which Includes informing eligible customer s about the Gift Aid Scheme, promoting Gift Aid Participation, processing Gift Aid forms, maintaining accurate records and complying with Data Protection guidelines.

2. Volunteers

2.1. To help create a positive and fulfilling environment for all team members.

2.2 Support the store manager with the store volunteer Rota to ensure appropriate store coverage at all times

3. Security & Health/Safety

3.1. To adhere to the Procedure Manual at all times, ensuring that the till reconciliation and banking is completed each day, reporting any issues to line management immediately and taking any resultant action as necessary.

3.3. To undertake daily health & safety checks, as directed and to be the appointed first aid contact within the store in the absence of the store manager.

3.4. To work within the guidelines of all City Hospice policies and procedures.

3.5. To be responsible for key holding and banking if needed.

4. Additional Items

4.1 To attend meetings and training sessions as requested.

4.2 On occasions to work above contracted hours, for example to cover absence for sickness or holidays.

4.3 Travel to other stores and City Hospice facilities if required.

4.4 To fulfil mutually agreed additional duties when necessary

4.5 Make decisions within clearly defined and agreed delegated authority

4.6 Ensure the store is maintained to an appropriate standard making sure the shop is clean and hazard free and any hazards or maintenance issues are promptly reported to management.

5. Training

5.1 Participate in any statutory and mandatory training in line with City Hospice policy

5.2 Take part in the Individual Performance Review process

Skills



Fluency in English Strong communication skills with the ability to engage with diverse customers Organised with excellent time management abilities to prioritise tasks effectively Basic maths skills for handling transactions and stock counts Knowledge of merchandising principles to optimise product presentation Good phone etiquette for handling remote customer enquiries Previous retail or customer service experience Gift Aid Awareness Attention to Detail Problem Solve Organisational skills to maintain a tidy and inviting store environment

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: 12.21-12.22 per hour

Expected hours: 22.5 per week
