Job Description

Overview


We are looking for a dedicated and customer-focused Sales Assistant to join our team. As a Sales Assistant, you will be responsible for assisting customers, maintaining store appearance, and ensuring a high level of customer service.

Key Responsibilities



Provide excellent customer service. Assist customers in selecting and purchasing products. Keep the store tidy and organized. Handle cash transactions and maintain accurate records. Ensure stock levels are maintained.

Experience



Previous experience in retail or sales is preferred Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to converse fluently in English Basic mathematical skills for handling transactions and inventory management Excellent organisational skills to maintain a tidy work environment Time management abilities to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced setting Experience with merchandising techniques is beneficial

Skills:



Customer Service Excellence:



Ability to greet and assist customers warmly. Handling customer complaints and resolving issues in a calm and professional manner. Upselling and recommending products to customers based on their needs.

Point of Sale (POS) System Experience:



Familiarity with operating cash registers and processing transactions efficiently. Handling cash, credit card transactions, and possibly refunds.

Stock Management:



Replenishing stock and maintaining proper stock levels. Ensuring products are correctly shelved and properly labeled. Stock rotation (FIFO - First In, First Out) to ensure product freshness.

Product Knowledge:



Knowledge of the products being sold, including any promotions or discounts. Ability to suggest alternatives to customers if a product is out of stock.

Teamwork and Communication:



Working efficiently as part of a team to ensure the store runs smoothly. Good communication skills for interacting with customers, suppliers, and other team members.

Time Management:



Ability to handle multiple tasks at once (e.g., serving customers, restocking shelves, cleaning). Ability to prioritize tasks and remain organized during busy periods.

Attention to Detail:



Keeping the store clean and tidy at all times. Ensuring product labels, prices, and store signage are accurate.

Basic Math and Handling Money:



Being comfortable handling cash and making change. Ability to track sales and work with cash drawers.

Health and Safety Knowledge:



Understanding of food safety and hygiene regulations, particularly for convenience stores that may sell food or beverages. Awareness of health and safety guidelines for the store environment.

Relevant Retail Experience:



Prior experience in a retail environment, especially in a convenience store or similar setting. Experience in handling cash and operating POS systems.
