Working Hours - 13 Hours at Weekends

with potential for more hours on weekdays to cover staff holidays which can include weekends. We require consistent hours throughout 2025 and into next so please don't give availability for a few weeks or have extensive holidays planned.

We are looking for a candidate who demonstrates the values of our independent pet and plants supplies shop. Qualities we are looking for as follows:

1. Experience - Atleast 1 years+ worth of experience in customer facing roles.

2. Reliable and Trustworthy.

3. Excellent customer service skills delivering above the basics.

4. Confident working to own initiative.

5. Self- Motivated, always looking for tasks to do and completing to a high standard.

6. Flexible with working hours to cover staff holidays, staff sickness and seasonal busy periods.

7. Have a basic knowledge of pet care and plants care. We do not sell live animals but still advise on the right products. And have indoor and outdoor plants.

8. Positive and can-do attitude.

9. Dedicated to the role to stay for atleast 3 months of the temporary contract and hopefully longer.

10. Once fully trained the candidate will be a key holder and be expected to open and close the shop if management are absent.

There are lots of learning opportunities to gain from this role and it is highly rewarding.

Please do not apply if you have no intention on starting with us or being with us for a very short time as this inhibits other candidates who are actually interested. This also inhibits operations of the shop.

Extensive holidays planned - You will be entitled to holiday after having worked and accrued this but not at the start of employment.

Have got no customer facing experience of atleast 1 year - candidates will get induction training but we can't teach the very basics.

Plan on never working a weekend - This is retail everyone in our small team will at some-point work weekends.

Live too far away and can't reliably commute.
