Reports to: Store Manager / Team Leader
Main Purpose of Role:
To assist in the daily operations of the off-licence store, ensuring excellent customer service, compliance with licensing laws, accurate till transactions and well-presented merchandise.
Key Responsibilities:
Greet customers on arrival, offer friendly and efficient service.
Operate the till: process cash/card payments, issue receipts, handle returns/exchanges according to store policy.
Serve alcohol and other age-restricted products only to customers who meet the legal age requirement, ask for ID when necessary and follow the store's challenge policy.
Restock shelves and chillers as required; ensure that product rotation (sell-by / use-by dates) is adhered to.
Maintain high standards of store presentation: tidy shelves, clear signage, clean floors, windows and areas accessible to customers.
Assist with receiving deliveries: unpacking, checking goods, storing correctly, updating stock records as required.
Monitor stock levels and alert the manager when items are low or obsolete.
Assist in merchandising, display sets (for promotional campaigns), ensure products are placed according to plan or as directed.
Comply fully with licensing legislation (for example, Licensing?Act?2003 in England & Wales) and the store's policies on sale of alcohol and other restricted items. ?
Ensure that the "Challenge 25" (or equivalent) policy is enforced for age-restricted sales.
Assist in closing/opening the store if required: cashing up tills, securing the premises, checking that stock/store is safe at close.
Support the team and manager in other duties as needed (cleaning, basic maintenance, assisting colleagues) and offer flexibility in working times (especially evenings and weekends).
Person Specification (Skills / Qualities):
Excellent customer service and communication skills; friendly, approachable and professional.
Basic numeracy (for till operations) and familiarity with cash/card transactions.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a small team.
Reliable, punctual, flexible with working hours (including evenings, weekends).
Ability to stand for long periods and undertake light physical tasks (e.g., lifting/stocking boxes).
Understanding of the responsibilities and legal obligations around sale of alcohol (age checking etc) is an advantage. ?
A positive "can-do" attitude and willingness to learn.
Prior retail experience is desirable but not essential; training will be provided.

Pay: 12.21-13.71 per hour
