Retail sales associate & van driver

Job Summary:

We are seeking a motivated and customer-focussed Retail Sales Associate to join our busy team in a local, community-based fruit and vegetable shop. This position requires: teamwork; excellent numeracy, literacy and communication skills; a high level of accuracy and attention to detail; alongside a willingness to learn about our products and services.

The ideal candidate will play an important role in providing excellent service to our customers by assisting with sales and maintaining the overall presentation of the shop. Additionally, you will be required to operate a van for collecting and delivering goods

Customer Service

ensure a high level of customer experience

greet customers warmly and assist them in locating products within the shop

be confident in providing knowledgeable advice on product features and benefits

provide a pleasing environment by keeping the shop safe, clean and welcoming, with attractive stock displays.

process sales transactions accurately and efficiently at the till deal in a friendly and effective manner with telephone orders and queries preparation of customers' orders

Shop management

? work as part of a team

? receive and unload deliveries, check their quality and stack shelves

? ensure that the shop is fully stocked, with continuous stock preparation and rotation as required

? maintain shelves, displays and storage areas in a clean, orderly and visually appealing display

? Participate in stock management, including counts

? Maintain health and safety standards within the shop and report any faults

Deliveries

Preparation, loading and delivery of orders

Other tasks: Any other reasonable tasks the Owner / Manager asks you to assist with

Essential requirements

Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with customers and colleagues. Excellent numeracy and literacy skills, with good accuracy and attention to detail A valid clean driving licence and van driving experience Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as needed

Preferred requirements

previous experience in retail or customer service ability to operate a till, credit card machine etc at point of sale work experience in the food industry, or a keen interest in fresh foods

Terms and conditions

Working days:

35 to 40 hours per week, over 5 days (working pattern to be confirmed). Hours will be kept under review

12.50 per hour

Holidays:

20 days per annum and 8 public holidays (pro rata)

Contract Term:

Permanent with a probationary period of 6 months
