is a family-run luxury tour operator providing private, bespoke tours of the Scottish Highlands and Islands. We are expanding our team and seeking a
Travel Sales Executive
to be the lead salesperson driving our growth.
In this role, you will convert warm inquiries into unforgettable travel experiences, crafting customised itineraries and hitting sales targets. You'll work closely with our existing sales and operations team to ensure each client's journey is seamlessly planned and executed. Please note: Most of our clients are in the US, so this role requires flexibility for evening or weekends to accommodate different time zones. If you are passionate about Scotland, thrive in a target-driven environment, and excel at building client relationships, we'd love to hear from you!
Key Responsibilities
Lead Conversion:
Proactively contact and follow up with warm leads (no cold calling - all inquiries are pre-qualified) via phone and email to schedule consultations and convert inquiries into bookings.
Tailored Itinerary Planning:
Design and propose bespoke tour itineraries in the Scottish Highlands,
tailor-made
to each client's interests and needs, showcasing our unique destinations and experiences.
Sales & Targets:
Meet and exceed personal sales and revenue targets by effectively closing sales and improving conversion rates on incoming leads. Continuously monitor your sales pipeline and prioritize follow-ups to maximize bookings.
Client Relationship Management:
Provide outstanding, personalised customer service from the first contact through post-trip follow-up. Build strong relationships with clients, encouraging repeat bookings and referrals through your professional and friendly approach.
Collaboration:
Work closely with our travel planner and guide team to ensure all promised itinerary details can be delivered. Liaise with colleagues handling operations (accommodations, transport logistics, etc.) so that each tailored trip runs smoothly and exceeds client expectations.
Upselling & Advice:
Take advantage of opportunities to upsell additional tour options or add-ons (such as luxury experiences, accommodations, or extensions) whenever possible. Offer expert advice and local knowledge to clients - you'll be the trusted expert on Highland tour experiences.
Skills & Experience Required
Sales Experience:
Proven experience in a target-driven sales role, preferably in the travel, tourism or luxury hospitality industry. A track record of meeting or exceeding sales KPIs (conversion rates, revenue targets) is essential.
Travel/Tourism Knowledge:
Strong knowledge of, or genuine enthusiasm for, Scottish travel destinations and culture. Familiarity with the Scottish Highlands tour routes and attractions (or the ability to quickly learn them) will be a significant advantage.
Communication:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Confident and engaging on the phone and via video call, with strong written skills for professional email correspondence. Ability to
'think outside the box'
to craft unique travel experiences and convey their value to clients.
Customer Focus:
A passion for delivering exceptional customer service. Friendly, professional manner with the ability to build rapport and trust with an international clientele (experience with U.S. customers a plus).
Organisation & Proactivity:
Highly organized and self-motivated. Able to manage a pipeline of leads, follow-ups, and itinerary tasks without dropping the ball. Willingness to take initiative to improve sales processes and contribute ideas to boost conversion.
Flexibility:
Ability to work flexible hours when needed. Since many of our clients are based in North America, you must be willing to occasionally adjust your schedule for evening or weekend calls to accommodate time differences.
Tech & Tools:
Comfortable with remote working and using CRM systems or travel booking tools to track leads and bookings.
What We Offer
Competitive Salary & Commission:
A base salary of
28,000 - 32,000
(dependent on experience) plus a generous commission structure, with on-target earnings (OTE) around
45,000
per year.
Hybrid Work Schedule:
Enjoy a balance of office and home life. Work
2 days per week in the office
(collaborating face-to-face with the team) and
3 days per week from home
, with the tech and support needed to succeed remotely.
Travel Perks:
Take part in
familiarisation trips
to experience our tours first-hand - we want you to know our luxury Highland experiences inside out. You'll also have potential opportunities to attend annual travel trade shows and events in Europe and the US to network and stay on top of industry trends.
Health & Wellness:
In 2026 we are introducing
Bupa private medical coverage
to keep you and your family healthy. We also offer a company pension contribution to help you plan for the future.
Work-Life Balance:
Though we require some flexibility, we pride ourselves on good working hours and a supportive environment. Enjoy a supportive, family-like team culture with
good flexibility
when you need it.
Growth Opportunities:
Join a growing company with an award-winning reputation (Luxury Tour Operator of the Year 2024). As a
key early member
of our expanding sales team, you'll have the chance to shape the role, improve our sales strategy, and potentially grow into leadership positions as we expand.
