The Role
As Sales Manager you will lead a team of sales professionals across the UK & Ireland, driving performance, customer engagement and the operational delivery of the company's objectives. You will work in close collaboration with the management team, fostering relationships with clients and partners, expertly presenting Sperrin Metal products and achieving both individual and team sales targets.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, coach & motivate the sales team to achieve performance and growth targets
Facilitate weekly sales meetings, monthly performance reviews & provide day-to-day guidance to the wider sales team.
Monitor progress against individual and team sales targets.
Provide coaching and feedback to enhance individual performance.
Support recruitment and onboarding of new sales team.
Ensure sales team activity aligns with company objectives and growth targets.
Support the development of area sales plans for the UK, Ireland & Europe.
Oversee the preparation of quotations and proposals.
Track & manage the sales pipeline using the company CRM system.
Maintain regular contact with key customers and prospects.
Manage and strengthen relationships with distributors to support market growth and ensure alignment with company standards and goals.
Support sales team in managing high-value or complex customer accounts.
Attend customer meetings, site visits and trade events as required.
Work closely with the Commercial Operations, Production & Design teams to ensure customer needs are met efficiently.
Provide regular sales reports, forecasts and performance updates to senior management.
Identify and pursue new business development opportunities to expand market share and drive sustainable growth.
Identify areas for process improvement and contribute to operational development.
Identify, evaluate and implement opportunities to leverage AI and digital tools to improve business performance, streamline processes, enhance data-driven decision-making and drive innovation across the organisation.
Essential Criteria
Proven experience in a B2B sales management or senior sales role, ideally within manufacturing, engineering or related sectors.
Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team to achieve performance targets.
Strong interpersonal, organisational and communication skills.
Analytical approach with the ability to interpret data and manage forecasts.
Full driving licence and willingness to travel across the UK, Ireland & Europe.
Demonstrated awareness & experience using AI-driven tools or digital automation to enhance efficiency, reporting accuracy or business insight, with a willingness to lead future AI system improvements and adoption initiatives.
Desirable Criteria
Experience within the metal fabrication, racking or material handling industry.
Experience managing remote sales teams and distributor management.
Competence in CRM and data-driven sales management.
