National Learning Group is one of the UK's leading online tutoring providers, supporting thousands of students a year with a team of 35 office staff and over 350 tutors. Our sales team is central to our growth. We have 9 outbound executives today and we expect that to increase significantly. We need a Sales Manager who can raise standards, build capability and drive consistent results.
The Role
This is a hands-on leadership role with proper autonomy. You'll shape the sales team, define standards and create a high-performance environment. You'll lead from the front, coach with intent and make sure the room has energy and momentum.You'll be responsible for team performance, call quality, coaching, daily discipline and future hiring as the department grows. This isn't a desk job watching dashboards; it's active management, clear expectations and visible, participative leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership
Manage and develop a team of 9 outbound sales executives, with headcount growth planned.
Build and maintain a positive, driven, high-energy culture with clear standards and accountability.
Deliver consistent coaching, call listening, one to one development and real-time floor support.
Run daily stand-ups, weekly reviews and structured performance cycles.
Sales Performance
Drive daily, weekly and monthly targets across activity, conversion and revenue.
Improve talk tracks, objection handling and closing technique through structured coaching.
Analyse performance data and take swift action where standards drop.
Ensure disciplined CRM usage and strong pipeline hygiene.
Growth & Strategy
Recruit, onboard and develop new sales team members as the department expands.
Collaborate with senior leadership on forecasting, incentives, team structure and long-term scale.
Identify weaknesses in process, scripts or systems and push improvements through decisively.
Drive innovation and work cross-functionally to generate efficiencies and improve customer experience.
Person Specification
About You
You understand how a sales floor works and you know how to run one properly. You're confident, composed and capable of raising the level of everyone around you. You prefer clarity over politics and results over noise.
Experience & Skills
Proven record managing telesales or outbound sales teams.
Strong coaching ability, able to turn average performers into consistent closers.
Confident communicator who can command a room and influence behaviour.
Target driven with a commercial mindset.
Organised, disciplined and comfortable making decisions quickly.
Experience scaling teams or building team culture is an advantage.
