The Opportunity:
Our Solihull site is one of the strongest performers in the region, with a large and loyal customer base, an active sales department, and room to grow even further. We're looking for a Sales Manager who can take ownership of this momentum and push it to the next level.
You'll lead a team across the trade counter and sales office , shaping how we serve customers, respond to enquiries, and win business. The scale of the site means you'll be dealing with a mix of high-volume day-to-day trade activity and more complex contract-based work. It's a role for someone who enjoys variety, thrives in a busy environment, and wants the space to influence how a large merchant site runs commercially.

What You'll Be Doing
Team Leadership

Lead, motivate, and develop the team.
- Set clear expectations around service, responsiveness, and commercial decision-making.
- Support the team with product knowledge, pricing guidance, and customer handling.
Sales & Account Growth
- Proactively develop revenue across existing accounts, including re-engaging underperforming customers.
- Identify, target, and convert new business opportunities in the local trade market.
- Work closely with key customers to understand their needs and offer tailored support.
- Deliver quotes, negotiate pricing, and oversee major enquiries coming through the site.
- Represent the branch at customer visits, site meetings, and relevant industry events.
Commercial Focus
- Collaborate with the Business Unit Manager to shape local sales strategy.
- Monitor performance, margins, and customer activity to identify growth opportunities.
- Ensure the sales function runs efficiently, with strong communication between counter and sales staff.
What We're Looking For
- Experience in plumbing & heating or builders' merchant sales.
- Proven background in account management, B2B sales, or internal sales leadership.
- Strong commercial judgement with confidence in pricing, negotiation, and decision-making.
- Leadership qualities that inspire high standards and positive team culture.
- Someone who enjoys being customer-facing and hands-on.
- Full UK driving licence (customer visits are part of the job).
