Microsearch Laboratories is a UKAS accredited laboratory that has been providing analytical services to the food industry for over 30 years. We are a fast-growing company comprising of five separate laboratories based across two sites.
We are looking for a Sample Preparation Technician to work in the Sample Preparation department of our chemistry laboratory.
Key Duties Include:
Timely collection of samples from the Brearley site.
Ensuring samples are correctly logged into the LIMS database system.
Ensuring sample are properly stored at the correct temperatures.
Liaising with clients regarding anomalies and testing requirements.
Liaising with the quality department when required.
Subcontracting samples in a timely manner and reporting subcontracted results.
Preparing samples for analysis including labelling, cooking, chopping, grinding and weighing samples.
The candidate may also be trained to carry out chemistry tests in the main chemistry laboratory.
Shift pattern:
Monday to Friday, 2pm - 10pm, with a 30-minute unpaid break.
Some overtime maybe required at the end of the shift or on weekends.
Essential Criteria:
A full driver's license and be over the age of 21 for insurance purposes.
5 GCSE's A-C / 4 or above which must include English.
Computer Literate in excel and word.
Excellent communication skills both written and spoken.
Desirable Criteria:
A-Level's or equivalent.
GCSE in IT.
Candidates must be enthusiastic, hardworking, highly organised, efficient, and accurate with strict attention to detail. They should have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and be confident in communicating directly with customers. Good computer skills are essential. Candidates should be reliable and be able to work independently and as part of a small team.
This role is physical and will include lifting crates, sorting through samples and driving between sites to pick up samples.
Rate of pay will be 12.66 per hour.
