Animal Sanctuary Manager

Job Summary:
The Animal Sanctuary Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the sanctuary, ensuring the well-being of all resident animals, and promoting the mission of the organization. This role involves managing staff, volunteers, and resources to create a safe and nurturing environment for animals in need.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Animal Care and Welfare:
- Ensure the health, safety, and welfare of all animals in the sanctuary.
- Develop and implement care plans for individual animals, including feeding, medical care, and enrichment activities.
- Conduct regular assessments of animal health and behavior.
2. Staff and Volunteer Management:
- Recruit, train, and supervise staff and volunteers.
- Create schedules and delegate tasks to ensure effective operation.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
3. Operational Management:
- Oversee daily operations, including animal intake and adoption processes.
- Manage budgets and financial planning for the sanctuary.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and standards of care.
4. Community Engagement:
- Build relationships with local communities, organizations, and stakeholders.
- Promote the sanctuary through outreach programs, events, and social media.
- Educate the public about animal welfare and the mission of the sanctuary.
5. Facility Maintenance:
- Ensure that the sanctuary facilities are safe, clean, and well-maintained.
- Oversee the management of supplies, equipment, and facilities.
6. Fundraising and Grants:
- Assist in developing and implementing fundraising strategies and grant applications to secure financial support for the sanctuary.
Qualifications:
- preferred HR Background
- Experience in animal care, management, or a related field for a minimum of 2 years.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of animal behavior and welfare standards.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 50 lbs).
- Comfort working outdoors in various weather conditions.
