The Payroll Lead will hold
end-to-end ownership of functional design, configuration, and assurance for SAP Payroll
. Working closely with HR and Finance stakeholders, the role ensures that pay structures, statutory rules, and integrations are implemented to the highest standard, supporting operational efficiency, audit readiness, and regulatory confidence.
About the Role
------------------
You will act as the
functional authority for SAP Payroll
, governing solution design and configuration while leading workshops to define pay structures, wage types, and statutory requirements. The role will oversee
payroll simulations, mock runs, reconciliations, and cutover rehearsals
to guarantee payroll readiness.
In addition, you will provide oversight for WRICEF development, ensure data migration accuracy, and support
audit-ready payroll operations post-go-live
. The Payroll Lead will also play a key role in
mentoring consultants, uplifting delivery capability, and embedding payroll best practice
into the wider programme.
Key Responsibilities
------------------------
Lead workshops with HR and Finance to capture payroll requirements and validate functional designs.
Configure and govern
payroll schemas, rules, wage types, calendars, and statutory deductions
.
Ensure seamless integration with
Time Management, Finance (FI/CO), and third-party payroll interfaces
.
Oversee
payroll simulations, parallel runs, reconciliations, and variance analysis
.
Define audit controls, compliance checkpoints, and reporting requirements.
Support WRICEF functional design and oversee payroll-related enhancements.
Validate payroll data migration and contribute to cutover planning and rehearsals.
Produce functional documentation, process maps, and audit-ready artefacts.
Mentor junior consultants and strengthen payroll capability across the delivery team.
Experience & Skills Required
---------------------------------
Demonstrated expertise in
SAP Payroll design and delivery
within S/4HANA programmes.
Strong knowledge of
schemas, rules, wage types, statutory deductions, and compliance frameworks
.
Proven experience with
parallel payroll runs, reconciliations, and audit controls
.
Familiarity with
integration points to Time Management, HR Core (PA/OM), and Finance postings
.
Understanding of
multi-country payroll operations
and statutory legislation.

Qualifications
------------------
Degree in HR, Finance, or IT.
SAP Payroll certification (preferred).
Payroll compliance or audit credentials (e.g. CIPP, payroll association memberships) desirable.
