Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Science Tutor to join our Academy. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to educating students and fostering a supportive learning environment. This role involves working closely with children, including those with special educational needs, to enhance their academic skills and confidence. The Tutor will play a crucial role in helping students achieve their educational goals through tailored instruction and encouragement.

Times

We operate for 6 Saturdays per academic half term. 30 Saturdays over each academic year. Exact dates are available during interview stage.

Bonus opportunity for more hours is to provide online sessions from your home during peak GCSE exam season.

Duties

Provide one-on-one or small group tutoring sessions to students in various subjects. Develop customised lesson plans that cater to the individual learning needs of each student. Educate students on key concepts while employing engaging teaching methods. Communicate effectively with students and their families regarding progress and areas for improvement. Assist students with homework, exam preparation, and study techniques. Monitor and assess student performance, providing constructive feedback to help them improve. Foster a positive learning environment that encourages student participation and enthusiasm for learning. Provide a brief termly report on students and recommendations for improvement.

Experience

Previous experience in tutoring or teaching is highly desirable. QTS and clear DBS required. A background in special education is advantageous, particularly for working with children who require additional support. Strong communication skills are essential for effectively conveying information and building rapport with students. Experience working with children in an educational setting is preferred, demonstrating the ability to engage and motivate young learners.
