We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Structured Cabling Engineer to join our team. As a Structured Cabling Engineer, you will be responsible for installing, and maintaining various types of structured cabling systems, including but not limited to passive cabling, fibre optic installation , including blown fibre. Your expertise will contribute to the successful implementation of network infrastructure projects and ensure the reliability and performance of our clients' communication networks.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with clients and project managers to develop structured cabling system designs based on project requirements and industry standards.
- Conduct site surveys and assessments to determine cable routing, equipment placement, and other infrastructure requirements.
- Prepare detailed project documentation, on site audit reports etc.
- Install, terminate, and test various types of structured cabling systems, including copper and fiber optic cables, patch panels, and connectors.
- Handle cable management, labeling, and organisation to ensure a neat and professional installation.
- Utilise appropriate tools and equipment to perform cable pulling, routing, and dressing according to specifications.
- Install, splice, and test fiber optic cables, connectors, and related components.
- Conduct optical power and loss measurements to ensure proper fiber optic performance.
- Familiarity with fibre systems, including installation, testing, and troubleshooting.
- Conduct thorough testing and certification of installed cabling systems using appropriate testing equipment and protocols.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, such as TIA/EIA and ANSI/TIA, for cabling performance and documentation.
- Create accurate as-built documentation, including cable schedules, test results, and network diagrams.
- Generate comprehensive reports for project managers and clients, detailing project progress, installation issues, and recommendations.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in structured cabling installation and maintenance.
ECS / CSCS
Full SC Clearance (Valid with proof)
Skills:
- Strong knowledge and experience with structured cabling systems, including copper and fiber optic cabling, patch panels, and connectors.
- Proficiency in fibre optic splicing, testing, and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with fibre systems and their installation practices.
- Knowledge of industry standards and best practices, such as TIA/EIA and ANSI/TIA.
Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read and interpret cabling diagrams, floor plans, and specifications.
