What you'll be doing
The Scaffolding Superintendent will lead and manage all scaffolding operations within the CWA Enabling and Earthworks Section of the SZC Project. This role is critical to ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient access solutions across the site. The successful candidate will oversee scaffold teams, coordinate with project stakeholders, and uphold the highest standards of safety and quality in line with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
Lead day-to-day scaffolding operations, including erection, modification, and dismantling of access and support structures.
Interpret scaffold designs, TG20 compliance sheets, and temporary works instructions to ensure correct implementation.
Manage scaffold teams: allocate tasks, monitor progress, and ensure compliance with work packs and permits.
Conduct toolbox talks and safety briefings, promoting a strong safety culture aligned with SG4: Preventing Falls in Scaffolding Operations.
Collaborate with Project Managers, Temporary Works Coordinators, and trade leads to plan scaffolding requirements and sequencing.
Ensure all scaffolding equipment is inspected, recorded, and maintained per statutory and company procedures.
Perform site inspections and audits, completing F91 or equivalent scaffold inspection reports.
Monitor labour hours, productivity, and resource allocation against project targets.
Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and support to scaffold supervisors and operatives.
Ensure compliance with CDM 2015, Work at Height Regulations 2005, and Health & Safety at Work Act 1974.
Who we're looking for
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience
Expert knowledge of scaffolding systems: tube & fitting, system scaffolds, stair towers, birdcage scaffolds, suspended/cantilever scaffolds.
Strong leadership and team management skills with a proven ability to motivate and guide crews.
Proficient in reading and interpreting scaffold design drawings, TG20 compliance sheets, and engineering details.
Excellent understanding of temporary works procedures and permit-to-work systems.
High attention to safety, quality, and productivity.
Clear and effective communication skills for engaging with site teams and senior stakeholders.
Competent in record-keeping, inspection reporting, and use of digital management tools.
42 hours per week.
Qualifications & Experience
CISRS Advanced Scaffolder - mandatory.
SSSTS / SMSTS or equivalent site management qualification.
Proven experience as a Scaffolding Supervisor or Lead on major construction, energy, or infrastructure projects.
Strong working knowledge of NASC guidance (TG20, SG4, TW series).
