Role Purpose:

This role is crucial for driving the success of the Arkwright Scholarship Programme by leading school outreach efforts across the UK. You will build strong relationships with schools, proactively promoting the scholarship and guiding prospective students through the application process, from initial enquiry to final submission. You will provide essential support for examination and interview stages, ensuring a smooth progression for candidates. Beyond outreach, you will contribute significantly to the delivery of a wide range of exciting STEM events, including residential programmes and industry days.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities



There are three key areas of work for this role that cycle throughout the academic year. These are broken down below, but this is not an exhaustive list of responsibilities, the post holder will need to undertake any reasonable duties required in line with the needs of the team through the year.

Arkwright Scholarship Outreach:



This part of the role takes place during the Autumn when online applications are open for our Arkwright Scholarship Programme. You will be responsible for providing outreach support to schools in several regions across the UK. The main responsibilities will be:

Nurture and maintain strong, positive relationships with a diverse portfolio of schools, and their key teacher contacts, to promote the scholarship program. Initial onboarding on new schools will be done by our Schools Booking team who will then hand key contacts over Implement and contribute to the development of an effective school outreach strategy to identify and engage target schools and potential scholarship applicants. Help to increase the number of scholarship applications we receive from state schools by targeting and growing key existing relationships and developing new ones with support of our Schools booking team. Help to increase the number of scholarship application we receive from female students by working with teachers to consider and identify potential candidates Proactively inform schools about the scholarship program, its benefits, and the application process through virtual presentations, workshops, and distribution of marketing materials. Provide support and guidance to prospective student applicants throughout the entire scholarship application journey, from initial enquiry to submission. Assist students and schools with navigating the application portal, understanding criteria, gathering necessary documentation, and meeting deadlines. Plan and deliver engaging workshops, information sessions, and other events (both in-person and virtual) for students, teachers, and parents to demystify the application process and encourage participation. Supporting the organisation and delivery of engagement activities, such as webinars. Maintain accurate records of school interactions, outreach activities, and applicant progress, providing regular reports on engagement and conversion rates. Put together a bank of application guidance resources for candidates, including video guides and written instructions

Arkwright Application Progression Support:



This part of the role generally takes places between Christmas and Easter, where applicants who completed their online application will then sit the entry exam and successful candidates will proceed to interview. The main responsibilities will be:

Support in ensuring Liaison Officers have the data needed to review, score, and recommend applicants for interviews Support in reviewing, scoring and selecting applicants for the areas you have provided outreach for. Support in managing the online examination process and with exam marking Support with the candidate interview process, interviews may be conducted virtually or online. You may need to support with the coordination of interviewers and/or candidates, as well as the scheduling, invitation sending and results upload. Support with the matching of successful applicants to Sponsoring Organisations.

Community Programmes and Events Delivery:



This part of the role will take place between Easter and the following year's application launch in September. You will support the wider Community Programmes team with admin and delivery across a wide range of events. The main responsibilities will be:

Support with the annual updating of scholarship resources Assist in delivering Arkwright events as needed, including Industry Connect Days, Residentials and Virtual Events Support colleagues to identify third party enrichment opportunities, for communication out to scholars. Take ownership of assigned events from an administrative, organising and support point of view. Process event applications and create relevant paperwork Prepare administration for assigned events including creating rooming lists, managing dietary requirements of students, and preparing relevant paperwork. Liaise with university departmental staff and venue/course organisers on arrangements, i.e. site visits, delegate numbers, room bookings, catering requirements, etc. Attend residential events, staying overnight, and providing administrative support throughout the event. This is approximately 8 residentials per year, across the school holidays, each lasting 3-5 days.

Key Deliverables & Results



Established School Relationships: A portfolio of strong, positive relationships with target schools and key teacher contacts. Effective Outreach Strategy: Contribution to and implementation of an effective school outreach strategy leading to an increase in applications from state school and female students aiming for an increase of 15% in both in first year (averaged across all regions covered) Application Guidance Resources: A comprehensive bank of application guidance resources (video guides, written instructions) created and made available. Exam and Selection Support and Delivery: Successful review, scoring, and selection of applicants for assigned regions. Effective support provided for online examination process. Candidate Interview Process Support: Coordinated and scheduled candidate interviews (virtual/online), including invitation sending and results upload. Event Delivery Support: Effective assistance in the delivery of Arkwright events (Industry Connect Days, Residentials, Virtual Events) as well as delivering wider Community Programmes events. Est. 4-6 residentials attended per year.

Skills and experience that will help you succeed in this role:



Proven experience in outreach, engagement, or relationship management, ideally within educational or youth-work Ability to explain complex information clearly and concisely to varied audiences. Experience in providing support to individuals through a structured process (e.g., applications, programmes, teaching etc.). Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation) with the ability to build rapport with diverse stakeholders (teachers, students, parents). Strong organisational skills with meticulous attention to detail, capable of managing multiple tasks and deadlines effectively. Proficiency in standard office software (particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience with CRM / database systems Ability to work independently and take initiative A passion for supporting young people's development in STEM. Adaptability to work across different seasonal priorities and tasks.

Bonus points if you have these:



Experience in maintaining accurate records and producing reports Demonstrable experience in event delivery, including logistical and on-site administration. Direct experience working within the UK education system. Experience in creating educational or guidance resources Educated to Degree level, ideally in a STEM related subject Full UK Driving License Teaching qualification.

Safeguarding responsibilities



Promote and safeguard young people to ensure all events provide safe environments in which young people can explore and develop their potential. This may include supporting with overnight supervision of students, first aid cover/ hospital runs and general behavior management. Be aware of and ensure strict compliance with the Trust's Safeguarding policies and procedures and Code of Conduct. Undertake all safeguarding training as directed. Report any safeguarding concerns, no matter how small.

Data security responsibilities



Maintain confidentiality of data and information that is sensitive to the Company, in line with Company policy and the Data Protection Act. Be aware of responsibilities under the requirement of the Data Protection Act 2018 and ensure strict compliance with the Trusts Data Protection policies and procedures. Undertake all data protection training as directed. Minimise the risk of data security breaches by ensuring all Trust confidential data is handled and processed securely. Report all data breaches immediately so that swift containment action is taken.

Health and Safety Responsibilities



Be aware of and ensure strict compliance with the Trust's Health and Safety policies and procedures. Take a proactive approach to managing their own and others Health & Safety. Take reasonable care of own and others personal health and safety when carrying out the Trust's activities. Report any potential health and safety risks or hazards to line managers. Undertake all health and safety training as directed.

What can we offer you?



The salary for this role is 31,000pa

You will start with 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays (which increases after 2 years). We also offer a generous pension scheme (7% employer contribution), free health care provision, death in service benefit.

We are committed to helping our team members maintain a healthy work-life balance, so offer hybrid working opportunities, with an expectation of being in the Leamington office 2-3 days each week, but this may increase slightly during busy periods.

This role will also require you to travel and stay away from home to attend residential courses and other events.
