THE ROLE

You will work with the photography team helping in all aspects of the job, both on-site in Schools and back at the office base working on Lightroom and Photoshop.

You will start to take photographs under supervision soon after joining the team and learn the key skills and processes, not only in photography best practice but also in time management and organisation which are vital in the fast-paced environment we work in.

JS Photography Ltd is a successful School and Nursery photography business based at Ilkeston, Derbyshire. We pride ourselves on high quality, consistent school images that parents will cherish for years to come. Our approach has always been to capture the best images we can, and keep quality at the high level that is now expected from our customers. Covering schools and nurseries across the midlands but also have work at each end of the country.

KEY SKILLS

To become part of our photography team you will be confident, full of character, energetic and able to engage with children quickly to put them at ease. This is an essential part of the job that cannot be taught!

You may have experience, a degree or a keen interest in photography and be able to show portrait images taken by yourself. All our photographers have a passion for photography and spend many hours with a camera in their hands or working on images in Photoshop. Photographic knowledge and previous use of DSLR cameras is essential to be successful in the role.

Lightroom is used daily, so knowledge of the application would be an advantage but not essential, we will be teaching the computer skills required. You will need to be a fast worker with computers as we edit hundreds/thousands of images a day.

We travel to the settings each day, get up early and cover many miles so being a confident driver with a clean licence is big part of the role.

AN AVERAGE DAY

We work in schools all around the country, so starting early to be on-site at a school at around 7.30. We then setup equipment ready for the students to start arriving and keep shooting until everyone has been photographed, which we aim to do before lunch when possible. Then its back to the office to download and edit the shoot in Lightroom. Our in-house photographers are a great team, so if time permits they pick up work to help the rest of the team out.

EXPERIENCE

Experience in a school/nursery photography environment would be an advantage, however this is not essential. Successful candidates will be trained by our team and developed the way we like to capture images.

DBS

Successful candidates will have to provide details for us to perform Enhanced DBS checks in line with our safer recruiting policies.

CONTRACT INFORMATION

Expected Contract Period September - November

Job Type: Temporary
Contract length: 3 months

Pay: 12.21-14.00 per hour
