Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Caretaker to maintain the cleanliness and overall appearance of our premises. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all areas are kept in a hygienic and orderly condition, contributing to a safe and welcoming environment. This role offers an opportunity to work within a professional setting, supporting the organisation's standards of cleanliness and presentation.

The hours are 7.00 am to 4.00pm

Duties

To open up the site in a timely manner and to make sure all buildings are adequately heated

Regularly test the fire points and to assist in fire drills

Empty the bins around the school and keep the building swept free of litter, rubbish and leaves etc.

To help with the upkeep and maintenance of the school, and to prioritise jobs

Set up and take down tables for exams

Adhere to all Health & Safety requirements and report any problems immediately

Do any general building work over the holiday period, for example painting classrooms, removing carpets and basic plumbing and carpentry work (Excluding Electrical, Gas and major plumbing Jobs)

Liaise with contractors coming on site

On call duty for out of hours alarms

Support the Transport Supervisor/Assistant Caretaker with keeping the minibuses clean, tidy and roadworthy, with regular tyre, oil checks and keeping the buses fuelled

To stand in and drive for trips and sport activities as required

To help out at after-school events, for example , open days, annual firework display, summer fair and prize giving.

Safeguarding children in supervising pick up and drop off/on the minibus as required

To drive to the Hard each school morning

Cover the morning minibus out of the area if the driver calls in sick

Qualifications

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Competent in basic carpentry, plumbing and decorating skills Able to drive a minibus (MIDAS Training will be given) Good organisational skills and attention to detail Physical ability to perform all duties, including lifting and standing for extended periods Reliable, punctual, and committed to maintaining high standards of cleanliness A positive attitude and willingness to contribute to a team environment Flexible
