The School Cleaner is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and hygienic environment within the school premises. This role involves cleaning classrooms, offices, corridors, toilets, and other designated areas, ensuring that all surfaces, floors, and facilities are properly sanitized. The School Cleaner contributes to the health, safety, and well-being of students, staff, and visitors by performing routine cleaning tasks efficiently and in accordance with the school's standards and health and safety policies.
Key Responsibilities:
Sweep, mop, vacuum, and polish floors in classrooms, offices, corridors, and communal areas.
Clean and disinfect toilets, washbasins, and other sanitary facilities.
Dust and wipe furniture, fixtures, windowsills, and other surfaces.
Empty bins and dispose of waste in line with school and environmental procedures.
Maintain cleaning equipment and report any faults or maintenance needs.
Replenish supplies such as soap, toilet paper, and paper towels in toilets and classrooms.
Ensure safe handling and storage of cleaning chemicals, following COSHH regulations.
Report any hazards, maintenance issues, or safety concerns to the appropriate staff.
Assist with occasional deep cleaning or special projects as required.
Follow all school policies, including safeguarding, health, and safety procedures.
Skills and Qualifications:
Previous cleaning experience preferred, ideally in a school or similar environment.
Basic understanding of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Attention to detail and commitment to high standards of cleanliness.
Good time management and reliability.
Physical fitness to perform manual cleaning tasks.
Awareness of health and safety regulations, including COSHH.
Will require a full enhanced DBS .
Working Conditions:
May involve early mornings, evenings, or flexible hours depending on the school's schedule.
Physical tasks including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
Work in areas frequented by children and staff, requiring adherence to safeguarding policies.
This vacancy is working Monday to Friday , times are 15.30pm to 18.30pm.
