About SBM Services Ltd:

SBM Services is a rapidly expanding company providing accountancy, auditing and business management services to a wide selection of educational establishments in a variety of contexts. Due to increasing demand and significant growth, we are looking to extend our team of consultants delivering our accountancy and auditing services.

The Role:

As a School Finance Consultant, you'll play a key role in delivering high-quality accountancy and auditing services to our school clients. This position offers the chance to deepen your financial expertise, while also developing broader business management and commercial skills within the education sector.

What We're Looking For:

If you're customer-focused, self-motivated, and adaptable, you'll be a great fit for our team! Excellent interpersonal skills and a background in bookkeeping or auditing are essential. Knowledge and experience of the education sector would be advantageous, although training and support will be given.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist schools and academies in their day-to-day accounting operations (e.g. ordering, invoicing, bank reconciliations, journal processing and VAT returns) Provide advice, support and guidance to schools and academies in budget preparation, monitoring and reporting Assist with the preparation of statutory financial returns Review schools internal control systems, identifying any weaknesses and providing recommendations for improvement Assist schools with medium term financial planning Support in the production of management accounts Support in the year end account closure process preparing final trial balance and supporting schedules for auditors Provide telephone and email support to offer general financial & business support, advice and guidance via our helpdesk

Location

: Work across client sites, with some remote work options available. Our main office is in Colchester, Essex, and travel to client locations is required, so access to a car is essential.
