Governance Professionals

(formerly known as Clerks) to join our Clerking Service team.

Each governing board is matched with a skilled governance professional who not only manages meetings efficiently but also offers procedural guidance, ensures compliance, and maintains essential governance records.

About the Role



As a Governance Professional, you will play a vital role in supporting school governing boards. Your responsibilities will include:

Organising and attending meetings (in-person and online) Building strong relationships with governors Accurately recording minutes of meetings and maintaining electronic governance records Providing professional advice and guidance


You will be employed by Warwickshire County Council and assigned to specific schools. Day to day accountability is to the governing board.

While you will work mainly from home, you will be expected to attend meetings at times convenient to the governing board -- usually early evenings. Meetings are usually in person with the occasional meeting taking place virtually at the request of the Chair of Governors.

This is a

flexible part-time role

, with hours ranging from clerking for one school to several schools and hours being agreed individually to suit your availability.

All new team members receive induction training, with ongoing support and development opportunities provided by our dedicated Governor Services Team.

We are looking for individuals who are: Proficient in ICT and can effectively use digital tools and systems Proactive, highly organised, and detail-focused Skilled in time management and administration Excellent communicators -- both written and verbal Confident in building and maintaining professional relationships Committed to self-development and continuous learning Willing to provide advice and guidance to all governing board members Able to work independently and flexibly, with professionalism and integrity Able and willing to travel to their school to participate in in-person governing board meetings


You will be expected to uphold the

Nolan Principles

and demonstrate respectful challenge and support in your governance role. A DBS check will be required.
