Cargilfield School is seeking a reliable, practical and child?focused individual to join our team. This role can be offered as a
full?time position combining School Maintenance and Minibus Driving
, or applicants may apply for
either role on a part?time basis
depending on their skills, interests and availability. We welcome applications from candidates seeking flexibility.
About the Role Option 1: Full?time Combined Role
A full-time position including:
Morning minibus driving (
6.30am-8.30am, Monday-Friday, term time only
)
Maintenance duties across the School for the remainder of the working day, year?round
Option 2: Part?time Roles
Candidates may instead apply for

Minibus Driver Responsibilities
Safely drive a School minibus on morning bus routes.
Carry out daily vehicle checks and report defects.
Register children and ensure correct seatbelt use.
Ensure the safety and welfare of pupils during the journey.
Liaise with parents and the School office regarding absences or pick?up issues.
Clean and check the vehicle after each run.
Undertake relevant training.
Carry out any other reasonable request from the Bursar or Headmaster.
Minibus Driver - Ideal Candidate
Full and clean driving licence (D1 desirable but not essential).
Experience working with children.
Strong understanding of safeguarding and health & safety.
Positive "can?do" attitude and ability to respond to last?minute changes.
Commercial driving experience is helpful but not required.
Hours:
6.30am-3pm for both roles - there may be some flexibility in this, Monday-Friday
Maintenance Worker Responsibilities
Undertake general building and joinery tasks (e.g., fitting shelves, repairing fixtures).
Carry out basic plumbing and glass repairs.
Assist with managing heating systems and reporting issues.
Keep pathways, corridors and classrooms safe and free from hazards.
Replace emergency lighting and bulbs.
Support grounds and gardening work, including pitch preparation.
Assist with compliance requirements (H&S, Fire, Water & Legionella).
Move furniture, prepare rooms, and support school events.
Maintain fences, benches, gutters, and painted areas.
Drive school minibuses as required.
Clean, refuel and maintain School vehicles.
Safely store tools, equipment, and substances in line with regulations.
Report maintenance issues promptly.
Follow all Health & Safety procedures (risk assessments, COSHH, PPE etc.).
Assist with School security awareness.
Any other reasonable request from the Facilities Manager, Bursar, or Headmaster.
Maintenance Worker - Ideal Candidate
Maintenance or trade experience (minimum 2 years preferred).
Strong mechanical aptitude and practical problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Full driving licence (preferred).
