Lathallan School is a Scottish independent co-educational day and boarding school offering an outstanding Nursery, Primary and Secondary education. Brotherton Castle, the home of Lathallan, offers accommodation to pupils who wish to be full, weekly or flexi boarders. The castle's unique coastal location, between Montrose and Aberdeen, ensures that young people enjoy some of the best years of their lives in an inspiring learning environment.

Lathallan is a vibrant school committed to safeguarding and promoting the health and welfare of children. To support our school community we are looking to appoint a School Matron for an August 2025 start. The successful candidate will require an understanding of children and young people, have a warm and sympathetic personality and be able to demonstrate good sense- all while delivering a high-quality service of nursing care and health promotion to pupils and first aid care to all members of the school community.

Applicants should have excellent communication and inter-personal skills, be a good listener, flexible in outlook, reliable, warm and friendly in disposition, with sufficient sensitivity to show tact and diplomacy. A sense of humour, and a strong sense of calm in dealing with all situations are also fundamental to carrying out this job effectively.

You will require good organisational skills and initiative and the ability to work with a significant degree of autonomy, combined with strong 'team player' instincts and a good sense of school community. It is desirable for the postholder to have a nursing qualification however applicants with advanced first aid training will also be considered.

Location:

Brotherton Castle, Johnshaven

Hours of work:

Lathallan term and school in-service days only (36 weeks per year), 8:30a.m to 5p.m. Applications from job-share candidates will be considered.

Salary:

23,000 - 26,500 per annum dependant on experience
