We are seeking a dedicated and energetic School Minibus Driver to ensure the safe and reliable transportation of students to and from Special Needs Schools in Yeovil . This vital role involves operating school buses and minibuses with professionalism, maintaining excellent customer service, and adhering to all safety regulations. As a School Minibus Driver, you will be a key part of our commitment to providing a secure, punctual, and friendly transportation experience for students, staff, and parents alike. Your enthusiasm and attention to detail will help foster a positive environment for young learners every day.

Responsibilities



Safely operate school minibuses and buses on scheduled routes, ensuring timely pick-up and drop-off of students. Conduct pre-trip inspections to verify vehicle safety, including checking brakes, lights, tires, and fluid levels. Follow all traffic laws and safety regulations related to commercial driving, bus driving, and shuttle operations. Assist students with boarding and exiting the vehicle, providing support as needed for those requiring special accommodations. Some children travel in Wheelchairs and training will be given Maintain clear communication with school staff, parents, and dispatchers regarding schedules or any delays. Perform routine vehicle maintenance checks and report any mechanical issues promptly to ensure vehicle reliability. Uphold excellent customer service standards by creating a friendly, respectful environment for students and parents during transit. All Routes have a Driver and Passenger Assistant so the Driver will never be alone with the children. There may also be the opportunity carry out additional journeys between the school runs. Or provide holiday and sickness relief for some of our public services.

Qualifications



You must a have Category D1 on the Driving License Proven experience in delivery driving, or bus driving roles would be an advantage but not essential. Ability to be able to bend and stretch when fastening wheelchairs into a bus. Strong communication skills to interact effectively with students, parents and staff. Knowledge of vehicle maintenance basics to perform routine inspections and minor repairs. Demonstrated commitment to safety protocols and customer service excellence. Job Type: Part-time

Pay: 12.21 per hour

Expected hours: 15 - 25 per week
