Job: School Nurse

We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced School Nurse to join our team at a well-established educational institution. The School Nurse will provide essential medical care and support to our students and staff, ensuring their well-being and promoting a healthy learning environment.

Responsibilities:

• Provide immediate and emergency medical care to students and staff, ensuring the best possible care is available
• Treat students and staff, encouraging their prompt return to their normal activities
• Arrange safe transportation or alternative care for students whose return to their normal activities is unlikely or hazardous
• Administer medication in accordance with school policies and protocols
• Perform necessary health checks to aid in diagnosis
• Liaise with parents and staff regarding day-to-day medical needs of students
• Update medical policies and protocols as needed
• Maintain the medical register and ensure staff are aware of students with high-level medical needs

Essential Criteria:

• RSCN, RN-child, or RGN with relevant experience (e.g., A&E, school nursing, practice nursing)
• Minimum of 2 years of post-registration experience
• Ability to work independently without medical backup on site
• Computer literate, with proficiency in Word, Excel, Google Suite, and SIMS database (desireable)
• Medically fit and able to handle the physical demands of the role
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, especially with children
• Good working knowledge of child protection issues (training provided if necessary)
• Full clean driving license (desirable)

Desirable Criteria:

• Experience in school nursing, A&E, paediatric nursing, or adolescent health
• Willingness to contribute to the school community and embrace diversity
• Calm and confident when dealing with accidents and first aid issues
• Friendly, sympathetic, and supportive personality
• Energetic, motivated, and enthusiastic
