The General Caretaker is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness, safety, and general upkeep of buildings, facilities, and surrounding grounds. This role involves performing basic maintenance, repairs, cleaning, and security duties to ensure the environment remains functional, safe, and welcoming for staff, visitors, or residents.

Key Responsibilities

1. Maintenance and Repairs

Perform routine inspections of the premises to identify and report maintenance issues. Carry out minor repairs (e.g., plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and fixtures). Coordinate with external contractors for major repairs and specialized maintenance work. Ensure all equipment and tools are properly maintained and stored.

2. Cleaning and Upkeep

Maintain cleanliness of all areas, including offices, restrooms, corridors, and outdoor spaces. Empty trash bins, sweep, mop, vacuum, and disinfect as needed. Ensure supplies (soap, tissue, cleaning products) are adequately stocked. Maintain the general appearance of the property and surrounding grounds.

3. Security and Safety

Open and close premises as scheduled, ensuring all doors, windows, and gates are secured. Monitor the property for potential safety hazards and report or address them promptly. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations. Respond to emergencies such as leaks, power failures, or accidents.

4. Grounds and Outdoor Maintenance

Mow lawns, trim hedges, water plants, and clear walkways. Maintain outdoor lighting, signage, and parking areas. Ensure waste and recycling bins are regularly emptied and managed properly.

5. General Assistance

Support staff or residents with setting up rooms, moving furniture, and preparing facilities for events. Receive and assist with deliveries. Handle any additional duties assigned by management.

Qualifications and Skills

High school diploma or equivalent (technical or vocational training preferred). Proven experience as a caretaker, janitor, or maintenance worker. Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and general repair work. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Physically fit and able to perform manual labor. Reliable, trustworthy, and able to work independently. Awareness of safety and security procedures.

Pay: 15.00-16.50 per hour
