Post No. POSN004658 - School Support Officer Level 2 - Ysgol Bryn Derw
32.5 Hours per week (Monday to Friday 8.45am-3.45pm) 39 weeks per year - Permanent
With the opening of an additional new site in Caerleon, Ysgol Bryn Derw, across 3 sites, supports the provision of education for up to 136 children aged from 3 years to 19 years who have been diagnosed with ASD, also present with additional complex needs such as severe learning difficulties and highly challenging behaviour, and require a specialised environment.
The Governing Body is looking to appoint a School Support Officer Grade 3 to work in this busy and highly rewarding Special School environment.
With our expansion onto a third site, we are expanding our support team. The post-holder will be part of a team of five and so the role will be multi-faceted, with a particular focus on reception duties (parental and visitor interaction), internal & external communication, daily recording/processes and general administrative/organisational duties. Experience of school based electronic systems would be beneficial including SIMS and Parent Pay. The ability to work under pressure is essential, as is the ability to meet key deadlines throughout the year.
You will have excellent literacy and numeracy skills, the ability to deal calmly with different situations as they arise and be able to develop good relationships with pupils, parents and staff.
The appointment process will involve a range of tasks and an interview with members of the school leadership team and School Business Manager.
Closing date: Monday 29th September 2025
Shortlisting: Tuesday 30th September 2025
