Business area introduction
As part of the Global Debt Capital Markets (DCM) team, the Sovereigns, Supranationals & Agencies (SSA) desk focuses on origination and execution of bond financing transactions for Sovereign, Supranational and Agency issuers around the globe.
The position supports origination, structuring and execution of bond transactions for public sector clients, while contributing to strategic client coverage and maintaining strong market insight. The role provides exposure to high-profile clients including sovereign governments, development banks, and international financial institutions.
Key activities
Assist the coverage of all global SSA clients for bond new issues.
In cooperation with other team members, prepare and deliver client pitches on relevant transaction ideas, market updates, key developments and strategic options
On active mandates, liaise with relevant stakeholders within and outside SCIB to prepare, launch, market and execute a range of capital market transactions
Support the execution of new bond issues, including drafting investor materials, managing documentation, and liaising with internal/external stakeholders.
Perform transaction analysis, including pricing, market conditions, investor demand, and peer comparisons.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of assigned clients, their funding strategies, and relevant market developments.
Track and analyse investor sentiment and flows relevant to SSA issuers.
Contribute to building strong relationships with clients through timely delivery of materials and insights.
Monitor global rates, credit spreads, macroeconomic developments, and policy drivers impacting SSA issuance.
Maintain internal databases and pricing models to support idea generation and client pitches.
Produce daily and weekly market updates for both internal stakeholders and clients.
Work closely with Syndicate, Sales & Trading, Research, and Legal/Compliance teams to ensure seamless deal execution.
Coordinate with Rating Advisory and Liability Management colleagues to deliver integrated solutions.
What we're looking for
Experience in a Front Office investment banking environment/technical role, with a specific focus on DCM
Basic knowledge of client base (European Banks) and/or their bond and financing needs; ability to drive agenda with those clients; link with wide internal team including Syndicate, Banking, Swaps, Sales etc.
Strong quantitative, analytical and modelling skills with attention to detail.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Bloomberg (or equivalent market data systems).
Ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Collaborative team player with strong work ethic and eagerness to learn.
Educated to Degree level in a relevant subject (preferably in an Economics and Finance related field) - Post Degree education a plus
Modern European Languages (Spanish, French, German, Dutch) in additional to fluency in English desirable
Regulatory certification /Fit & Proper assessment for the role
