We have an exciting opportunity at our Openshaw campus to join our Foundation Learning Department as a Science Teacher (Alternative Provision) on a fixed-term (until July 2026), part-time (17.5 hours per week) basis.

Our Openshaw campus is a vibrant, modern hub of learning, equipped with outstanding, industry-standard facilities designed to inspire both staff and students. We welcome applications from aspiring teachers who are passionate about sharing their industry skills. At The Manchester College, you will be supported by our Teaching Academy to work towards qualified teacher status for post 16 compulsory education, through a Cert Ed/PGCE. This includes 3-4 hours delivery per week and engagement with a mentor to support your progress in the profession while you work. The starting salary for an unqualified teacher is between 28,300.00 - 30,307.50*. It's a great way to kick-start a rewarding career with full training and support. Once you've successfully qualified and demonstrated your teaching competence, you'll progress to the qualified teacher salary banding.



Consideration will be given to relevant industry experience and skills with the flexibility to offer increased starting salaries in some circumstances.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will need:


Certificate of education or PGCE Current and valid industry specialism Assessor qualifications (if required by Awarding Organisation) Minimum Level 3 occupational qualification English and maths minimum level 2 Grace C or grade 4 and above Significant Experience of delivering outstanding teaching and learning Proven track record of high-quality teaching in delivering subject specialism or current valid industry specialism Working as a team Verbal and written communication skills Meet delivery targets and plans Accurate and timely reports and records Positive contribution to planning processes
