Main Duties



Plan and deliver high-quality Science teaching

aligned with curriculum requirements, schemes of work, and students' individual needs, including GCSE preparation.

Assess, track, and report on student progress

, setting clear targets and maintaining accurate academic records, reports, and grade cards.

Create a safe, inclusive, and well-managed learning environment

, maintaining high standards of behaviour in line with school policies.

Differentiate learning effectively

to ensure all students can achieve their full potential, using a range of strategies, media, and ICT.

Contribute to the wider curriculum

, including Life Skills, PSHE, Enrichment, Employability, and STEM-related activities and events.

Fulfil pastoral responsibilities

, including form tutor duties, supporting student wellbeing, and promoting positive conduct.

Undertake departmental responsibilities

, including subject leadership for Science, attending meetings, contributing to curriculum development, and following schemes of work.

Carry out administrative and organisational duties

, including attendance, classroom organisation, risk assessments, and supervision of teaching assistants.

Engage with parents, carers, and the wider community

, attending meetings, supporting induction, and organising educational visits and enrichment opportunities.

Uphold professional standards and safeguarding duties

, including compliance with policies, health and safety, performance management, and child protection requirements.

About You



Experience teaching Science up to GCSE level, with a clear understanding of exam specifications Passionate about engaging and inspiring students with diverse educational needs Able to plan and deliver differentiated lessons that support progress for all learners Strong classroom management skills with a calm, consistent, and positive approach Confident in assessing, tracking, and reporting student progress effectively Strong subject knowledge, classroom management, and ability to motivate students of all abilities. Effective communication, organisational, and time-management skills. Willing to submit an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Check (DBS). Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant qualification/experience. Complete Child Protection Training. Promote and safeguard the welfare of all children and young person's they are responsible for, or come into contact with.
