"This is a very happy and caring school. Leaders know pupils and their families well. One pupil, typical of many, described the school as 'home.'" (OFSTED 2023)

Lilian Baylis Technology School is a mixed, 11-18, inner city school located in a new building at Vauxhall, London. We are a multicultural community school, which serves the local community, and we view this as one of our key strengths. We value the diversity of our school, and strive to ensure that our students feel represented, both at whole school level and within the curriculum.

Our students are well behaved and ambitious, and they also value the school. All visitors to the school always comment on the calm and productive atmosphere of lessons. Our last OfSTED inspection stated that "behaviour is exceptional".

At KS3 the Science team has developed a highly praised curriculum that engages and enthuses students to study science further. At KS4 students study either GCSE Combined Science or Triple Science. At KS5 we offer A-level Biology, Chemistry and Physics, as well as BTECs in Applied Science and Applied Human Biology. These are all very popular subjects. In addition, those that study a science course at Key Stage 5 generally go on to study a related degree at university, including a substantial proportion of students gaining places at Russell Group Universities.

We are looking for a well-qualified and enthusiastic colleague to join the Science team as a Science technician. The team comprises teachers across all 3 disciplines, a Senior Science Technician and full time Science Tutors for GCSE & 6th Form, who all share a passion for both the subject and the achievement of the students. In addition to this, we have outstanding facilities for our students and staff. The science department is well resourced and all teaching takes place in modern, well equipped labs.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking for their first technician role, or an experienced Science Technician who is looking for a fresh challenge. We offer a highly supportive and committed working environment within a culture of success. Our CPD provision is extensive and follows a research driven approach, putting LBTS at the leading edge of professional practice.
