Job Description

Overview

We are seeking a Scientific Developer to design and develop advanced software solutions for scientific modelling and simulation. The role sits at the intersection of software engineering, applied mathematics, and computational science, and is ideal for candidates who enjoy tackling complex, open-ended technical problems.

You will work closely with scientists, engineers, and product teams to prototype innovative computational approaches and translate cutting-edge research into robust, scalable software systems.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain high-performance software for scientific modelling and simulation. Prototype and evaluate novel solution approaches to complex technical problems with high scope and ambiguity. Engage in advanced technical problem-solving across multiple technologies, often requiring the development of new computational methods. Collaborate within a multidisciplinary, multicultural team including product owners, developers, consultants, and scientists. Continuously expand scientific and technical knowledge through in-depth review of current literature and state-of-the-art solutions. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to integrate computational quantum computing methods into larger-scale simulations and multi-scale modelling frameworks.

Qualifications and Skills

Degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or another numerate discipline. A postgraduate qualification (MSc or PhD) is highly desirable. Several years of professional experience with Python and C/C++. Proven ability to develop and apply novel computational methodologies to solve complex problems. Experience designing and architecting large-scale, complex software systems. Familiarity with parallel programming concepts (e.g. shared-memory or distributed computing).
