is a discovery stage spin-out from the Institute of Cancer Research and the University of Oxford, based on the pioneering research of our Founders, Professors Terry Rabbitts and Angela Russell. We focus on developing small molecule inhibitors targeting hard-to-drug proteins, including intrinsically disordered proteins, using our innovative intracellular antibody (iDAb) platform. Our technology facilitates the identification of new functional binding sites on these proteins, opening up new avenues for targeting them with small molecules. Kodiform Therapeutics is based at the thriving science innovation hub at Scale Space in White City, London.
Role Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Senior Scientist to join our growing biopharma start-up.
In this role you will lead advancement of the Kodiform iDAb platform. Drawing on your experience of antibody engineering and display technologies you will expand on the work of our founders to increase the efficiency and complexity of the iDAb library screen.
The ideal candidate has proven expertise with antibody library design and screening, ideally acquired in a biotech or pharma setting. You will be able to drive your research independently but also contribute strategically to the drug discovery efforts of the company. You are organised, keep meticulous records and are an effective team player, eager to mentor junior colleagues and contribute to our inclusive company culture.
We offer a competitive salary, pension and share option scheme.
Key responsibilities
Use the Kodiform Therapeutics iDAb screening platform to identify new binding sites on hard-to-drug proteins.
Further develop the Kodiform iDAb platform to and troubleshoot assays to identify intracellular antibodies which can be used to screen small molecules against new binding sites on target proteins
Communicate findings through presentations, reports, and scientific publications.
Be an effective member of our laboratory team, contributing to the efficient running of the lab, including health and safety compliance.
Keep meticulous records and maintain sample archives.
Required qualifications and experience
PhD in Biochemistry, Structural Biology or related discipline
Strong expertise and experience working with antibody engineering/ antibody discovery, including display technologies (phage display, yeast/mammalian display).
Hands-on experience with antibody library design, screening assays, and data analysis.
Extensive molecular biology experience including cloning PCR, Western blot, ELISA and other cellular assays.
Broad understanding of assay development and validation
Optimise existing protocols and support the development of new approaches to improve efficiency and innovation.
Strong organisational skills to manage multiple tasks, prioritise workload and meet project timeline
Highly desirable experience
Proteomic analysis
Experience with protein expression and purification
Experience analysing protein-protein interactions in microbial and mammalian systems
Experience interacting with CROs.
Project management experience in R&D settings, but academic postings will be considered if the candidate has highly suited specific experimental experience and/or experience working with industry collaborators.
Experience managing or mentoring junior team members.
