London, ENG, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

Join Our Safeguarding Team in Lewisham - Band 6 SCPHN School Nurse

Are you a passionate and proactive SCPHN-qualified School Nurse ready to make a real impact? Whether you're newly qualified or bringing years of experience, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our dynamic School Health Service Safeguarding Team in Lewisham.

This permanent Band 6 role offers the chance to work with children and young people across both primary and secondary schools in one of London's most vibrant and culturally diverse communities. You'll play a vital role in safeguarding, improving outcomes, and tackling health inequalities for children, young people, and their families.

We welcome applications for term-time or part-time working -- because we know flexibility matters.

If you're committed to making a difference and thrive in a collaborative, child-focused environment, we'd love to hear from you.

We're looking for a passionate and skilled SCPHN School Nurse with safeguarding experience to manage a complex caseload of vulnerable children and young people. You'll work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, contributing to high-quality care across Lewisham's diverse school-aged population.

Key responsibilities include:

Leading on safeguarding Health Needs Assessments and interventions

Building strong partnerships across agencies and organisational boundaries

Communicating effectively with children, families, and professionals

Supporting and driving service improvements to enhance outcomes

Our people are our greatest asset. When staff feel supported and valued, that positivity flows directly to the patients and communities we serve. We believe that engaged teams deliver the best care -- and our commitment to Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) is central to creating a workplace where everyone can thrive.

We're proud to offer:

Four active staff networks and a dedicated corporate EDI team

A wide range of programmes and events aligned with our five key aspirations:

Increasing representation of disabled staff, ethnic minorities, LGBTQ+ individuals, and women in senior roles

Widening access and employability as an anchor institution

Enhancing the experience of staff with disabilities

Building EDI confidence and literacy through training and development

Embedding equality into everything we do

Join us and be part of a team that's not only shaping better health outcomes -- but also driving meaningful change across our workforce.

The post holder will serve as a role model for best practice within the School Health Service, supporting the development and delivery of high-quality care for Lewisham's school-aged population. You will work closely with the Safeguarding Team Manager to innovate and implement new approaches that meet the evolving needs of children and young people.

Key responsibilities include:

Promoting the health and wellbeing of children and young people, enabling them to reach their full potential and avoid disadvantage due to ill health or disability.

Identifying and responding to the needs of vulnerable children and those with additional needs -- including looked-after children and those excluded from school -- through timely referral and intervention.

Working in partnership with parents, carers, education, social care, health services, the Healthy Schools Partnership, and other agencies to deliver coordinated support.

Empowering team members to enhance service delivery through collaboration, professional development, and continuous improvement.
