SCUK Commercial Manager - BYD

Reporting to the OEM Sales Director, the purpose of this key senior management position is to lead the BYD Financial Services sales function with full accountability and responsibility for delivering its commercial objectives through establishing and maintaining a first class relationship with BYD, the BYD dealer network and all relevant internal stakeholders.


The role will shape the long term strategy for the BYD function and will manage and execute initiatives that provide short to medium term direction for the BYD relationship.


Acting as an integral part of the stakeholder SMT, this is a complex and demanding role. The stakeholder has high expectations of the job holder due to the level of complexities involved in supporting the achievement of their operational and performance objectives.


This role has a UK wide travel remit and will be provided with a company car. All applicants must hold a full and clean driving license.


Responsibilities will include:



Based on the organisation's overall business plan, provide insight and support to OEM Sales Director in developing and documenting a comprehensive and coherent sales development strategy for the BYD FS business unit , develop an annual activity plan outlining timings and high-level deliverables for the business unit and gain approval for annual spend Accountability for leading the delivery of the BYD FS annual plan in line with prescribed budget, through ongoing review and monitoring of costs Holds a cost centre budget to support all BYD related activities and initiatives which covers a number of complexities Establish a sound working relationship with BYD, the BYD Dealer network and with all relevant internal stakeholders including other members of the commercial management team, other SCUK business functions and acts as an integral part of BYDs operational Team Build, lead and develop the BYD FS sales team, through documenting a set of clear, well-communicated objectives and through on-going direction, coaching and guidance of staff as necessary. Dotted line responsibility to ensure the BYDDealer network sales teams sales activities are aligned with SCUK strategy Nurtures a positive environment, fostering new ideas and developing individual talent, ensuring appropriate performance targets and development plans are in place. Ensures the right culture and behaviours are promoted and communicated Acts as a role model for the team and the senior leadership team Listens to BYD to maintain knowledge and understanding of their business, company culture, vision and goals, needs and how future requirements will interface with Santander Ensure all sales intermediary remuneration and incentives are in line with company policy and that pricing mandates for commission terms are adhered to To deliver around 1.5 Billion in new business volumes from the dealer partnership relationship. This role has a small team to partner with the OEM retailers Adhering to our commitment to Consumer Duty ensuring we put our customers' needs first and set higher and clearer standards of consumer protection

What we're looking for:



Has extensive experience within the area of Sales and Business Development within the motor related financial services sector A good understanding of Balance Sheet and P&L accounting and related controls Previous management experience that required leading business units at both strategic and operational levels Demonstrable experience of managing sales teams addressing performance issues whilst driving a high performing team Ability to interact with Senior Management on equal terms, up to Board Level both internally and with the manufacturer partner Ability to have a significant input into discussions at a senior management level and cross-functionally and therefore a wide variety of experience is essential Experience of managing/developing and coaching of sales staff to achieve targets and KP{is Is well versed in producing sound strategic and working documentation and presentations, including business case proposals, briefs and presentations
