Job Description

Job summary

The Submarine Delivery Agency (SDA) is a part of the Ministry of Defence responsible for the procurement, in-service support, and disposal of the UK's nuclear submarines. Our work is of unparalleled strategic importance nationally and internationally, ensuring the security of the UK's continuous at-sea nuclear deterrent (CASD), and delivering some of the most technically complex programmes in defence. At least one of four nuclear-armed submarines, supported by smaller attack submarines, is on patrol at all times: 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

At the SDA, we strive to Support, Deliver and Aspire and put out values at the heart of our recruitment process. We believe that everyone should feel comfortable to be themselves and be supported to do their best work. As part of a diverse and inclusive workforce, our team will find a community to belong to. We believe that, by celebrating different backgrounds and different perspectives, together we'll achieve the extraordinary.

Job description

Looking for a role with real-world impact? Join our In-Service Support team, where your analytical skills and technical insight will directly contribute to the reliability and effectiveness of the UK's Nuclear Deterrent. This is an opportunity to work at the heart of the Strategic Weapon Systems (SWS) programme delivering high-impact patrol cycle analysis reports.

Your work will provide essential evidence that underpins the accuracy, availability, and maintainability of one of the nation's most vital defence capabilities. If you're driven by purpose, thrive in high-security environments, and want to make a real difference, this role offers a unique and rewarding challenge.

Successful applicants for this role may be eligible for a Trident Specialist Allowance (TSA) or Trident Chartership (TCA) if eligibility criteria are satisfied. TSA and TCA are non-contractual, non-consolidated, discretionary payments which may be withdrawn at any time.

This post may attract the NSQEP Recruitment Retention Allowance of up to 12,000 per annum. This allowance is discretionary and is dependent on a candidate's ability to successfully demonstrate and evidence their competence, qualifications, and experience to an independent panel of Subject Matter Experts.

Due to security constraints, this post is exempt from hybrid working requests. Requests for flexible and condensed working patterns can be considered but may be limited. Candidates should consider this and must discuss with recruiting line manager before submitting an application.

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver timely and accurate patrol analysis reports to stakeholders across the SWS community Process and rationalise patrol data, ensuring initial processing is completed and all reports are validated and distributed on schedule Maintain software compatibility with the US Department of Defense, managing all deliverables Provide assurance through rigorous testing to ensure UK-US software commonality Act as the technical authority for software reports submitted to the US analysis team, ensuring quality and integrity
Please note that this role is based in an underground facility. For health and safety reasons, the successful candidate must be physically capable of climbing thirteen flights of stairs in the event of an emergency.

Due to the role's location within an Information Protection Zone (IPZ), the use of medical devices or assistive technologies must be approved on a case-by-case basis due to security restrictions. It is essential that candidates are able to work within the IPZ. We encourage candidates to discuss their adjustment needs by emailing the job contact which can be found under the contact point for applicants section.
