Job Overview


We are looking for someone to work in our Lobster Shack, in Pengellys Fishmongers, Looe. The Shack was opened in 2024, serving the freshest seafood, cooked simply.

You will have access to some of the freshest produce in the country, direct off of the boats in Looe, just 5 metres from our door.

We have outdoor seating for around 40 people, we currently open 11am - 5pm, however there is scope to open into the evenings with the right candidates.

You must be able to work as a team, working closely with our fishmongers to balance stock levels. You must also be able to work well by yourself, as it gets extremely busy at lunchtime hours.

You will have your own prep kitchen, but all meals are cooked infront of customers in a small space, so you must be clean and organised.

This role is perfect for someone looking to gain a name for themselves, it is the perfect base for someone to put their stamp on.

Our shack is open mid March - mid November, however there may be options for more work outside of these months for the right candidate.

Please note, this job can be very stressful, due to the need to serve vast amounts of seafood in short spaces of time, you must be organised.

Duties to include

Prepare ingredients and cook meals according to specified recipes and standards Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area in compliance with food safety regulations Follow all health and safety procedures during food preparation and service Support team members during busy periods, including serving customers when required Ensure all food is stored correctly, adhering to hygiene standards Contribute ideas for menu development and improvements based on customer feedback

Skills



Experience in food preparation, cooking, or kitchen operations Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment Strong organisational skills with attention to detail Excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of a team Previous restaurant experience or culinary training is desirable but not essential Serving experience is a plus, demonstrating customer service capabilities

Job Types: Fixed term contract, Temp to perm
Contract length: 8 months

Pay: 12.21-16.50 per hour

Expected hours: 20 - 40 per week
