We're looking for a friendly and engaging seasonal bookshop assistants to join our small team over the peak winter season. We are looking for someone who is passionate about helping bring nature, wildlife, and the magic of books to life for our customers. Whether you're recommending a field guide to a curious explorer or sharing the joy of a beautifully illustrated kids book with a family, you'll be part of a welcoming team that celebrates curiosity, connection, and the wonders of the natural world.

About Wild Fungarium



Wild Fungarium is a specialist independent bookshop celebrating the wonders of wildlife, nature, and the natural world. We offer a carefully curated selection of books, gifts, and resources that connect people with nature and inspire curiosity about the living world.

Role Purpose



As a Seasonal Bookshop Assistant you will play a key role in providing excellent customer service, supporting the day-to-day shop operations, and ensuring a welcoming environment during a busy seasonal period. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working with people, has a genuine interest in wildlife and books, and thrives in a lively retail environment.

Key Responsibilities



Welcome customers and provide a friendly, knowledgeable service. Offer tailored recommendations on wildlife and nature books and gifts. Process sales using Shopify till system and handle cash/card transactions. Assist with merchandising, displays, and restocking shelves. Support with receiving, unpacking and processing deliveries. Maintaining a clean and tidy shop at all times. Contribute and assist with seasonal events. Help fulfil and pack online orders to ensure quick and accurate delivery. Work flexibly as part of a small team doing peak trading times.

Person Specification



Essential:



Strong customer service and communication skills. Friendly, approachable, and enthusiastic. Ability to work effectively in a busy retail environment. Reliable and punctual, with good attention to detail. Flexibility to work weekends and evenings as required. A strong interest in wildlife, nature and books.

Desirable:



Previous retail or customer-facing experience. Knowledge of current wildlife, natural history, or environmental subjects. Experience with point-of-sales systems.

Pay: 12.60 per hour
