From its humble beginnings in Victorian-era Oxfordshire to a thriving ornamental nursery in modern-day Hersham, Woodlark Nurseries stands as a living testament to over 120 years of horticultural expertise and family dedication.
The story began with William Hopkins, Head Gardener at Waterperry House, and continued through successive generations - each contributing their own vision, resilience, and innovation. From Frank Hopkins' early nursery in Shepperton to Ian Hopkins' post-war expansion into specialised glasshouse crops, the family's legacy has grown alongside their plants.
Today, Woodlark Nurseries remains rooted in tradition while embracing contemporary horticultural practices. Its name - drawn from historical maps dating back to the reign of Henry VIII -- connects not only to a rich local history, but to a proud lineage of growers whose passion for plants spans more than a century.
The role could be made permanent dependent on the needs of the business.
