Position Overview
As a Seasonal Multi-Activity Instructor, you will develop, promote and deliver a range of adventurous activities to schools, groups, families and individuals. Working in accordance with regulated advisory bodies, manufacturer's guidelines and Adventure Okehampton Operating Procedure's and Risk Assessment's.
Pre-Requisites:
The following are essential minimum pre-requisites to apply for this post:
- Climbing Wall Instructor (CWI) Training
- Paddlesports Instructor (PSI)
- General Confidence on a bike & willingness to train for a Mountain Bike (MIAS) Level 1 assessment. www.mias.co.uk
- Willingness to attend a 2 day 1st aid course.
The following additional qualifications/experience are desirable for this post:
- Previous instructing experience or sports coaching experience.
- Climbing Wall Instructor + Abseil Module (CWI+A) or higher
- Paddlesports Leader
- MIAS Level 1 or higher
- Archery GB Leader
- Lowland Leader / Hill & Moorland Leader (HML) or higher
- Outdoor 1st Aid certificate (minimum 16hrs)
- UK Driving Licence with a minimum of 2 yrs driving experience
- D1 Driving endorsement and / or experience towing trailers.
Main Responsibilities
Ensure that you are fully informed, up-to-date and adhering to, Adventure Okehampton Risk Assessments and Operating Procedures.
Plan and prepare activity content in a pro-active manner to meet client's needs.
Ensure that all necessary kit is ready in good time and in safe working order.
Liaise with teachers, group leaders and parents ensuring that they have access to all of the necessary information regarding their activities.
Deliver a range of safe, interesting, and adventurous activities to a variety of groups and individuals.
Participate in peer monitoring to continuously aid the development of our team.
Be responsible for the safe and appropriate storage of activity equipment & carry out regular documented checks on all safety critical kit.
Maintain the cleanliness of store rooms and communal areas.
Undertake any training and professional development as and when required.
Assist in any other work within Adventure Okehampton/Okehampton YHA/Granite Way Cycles when required.

Note: This description is not intended to establish a total definition of the job, but an outline of the duties. We all help each other, across all departments, so as well as delivering activities, you may find yourself helping with anything from bike hire to pot wash, to bed making.
Contract length and Hourly rates will meet National Minimum Wage for entry level instructors. Hourly rates for more qualified/experienced staff will be dependent on NGB qualifications and experience.
