Balfour Beatty VINCI (BBV) is not only working on the civil infrastructure of HS2 but is also embarking on the construction of complex buildings. Specifically, we are focusing on the design and build of industrial Concreate frame structures, including the vital headhouses for HS2's tunnel ventilation and pumping systems. This is all part of the next phase of construction, and we are looking for candidates with experience in build projects, especially those familiar with industrial Concreate frames, such as warehouses or large commercial buildings. As part of the team, you will work on the West Midlands section of HS2, delivering essential 'surface' structures that ensure the safety and functionality of the underground rail network.


There is a total of 5 buildings that will provide ventilation, power, and access to the track below ground. Now is the perfect time to join us as we expand our expertise into the build sector, offering unique challenges and opportunities. The build of the project will consist of Piling and Groundworks, Drainage Systems, Concreate Frame Structure, External Envelope (Cladding, Roofing, etc), basic Internal Fit-Out, Landscaping, and External Works.


We currently have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a

Section Engineer (MEP Buildings and Pumping Stations)

within the

Sitewide and Logistics team.

The Role Responsibilities for a

Section Engineer:

Develop construction methodology, site-specific programmes, and contribute to lookahead schedules in coordination with subcontractors and engineers for Building construction. Undertake readiness, prepare for work execution by organizing mobilisation, logistics, access, temporary works and ensuring all documentation is ready before work starts. Manage on-site activities for with multi-disciplinary works (civil, architectural works or building services) and supervise site engineers to ensure timely and efficient execution without disrupting the construction schedule. Assist the commercial team with contractual notices and instructions, particularly under the NEC contract framework. Prepare and review Method Statements and Risk Assessments, conduct inductions, site orientation, routine site inspections, and ensure all permits are in place. Maintain an accurate daily site diary, manage subcontractor records, and ensure communication is documented. Liaise with various stakeholders to resolve site clashes and ensure co-activities are managed for smooth workflow. Contribute to Temporary and Permanent Works Design and ensure all work complies with technical and contractual standards. Review and manage Inspection and Test Plans, carry out inspections, and ensure documentation aligns with quality control standards. Monitor progress, identify delays, handle Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), Technical Queries (TQs), and ensure timely close-out and documentation of as-built drawings

Experienced required:

Civil, Architectural Works or Building Services Engineering Degree holder, At least 5-year experience in the construction industry, Good working knowledge of current H & S legislation and SMSTS qualified. Building experience along with fit out and civils experience essential. Excellent team player and team leader

42 viaducts totalling over 11km 66 overbridges More than 35 cuttings reaching over 30km 56 culverts 66 embankments reaching over 33km Building four motorway crossings requiring box structures Six interfaces with the existing rail requiring both dive-under and overbridge structures
