Job Role


We are currently recruiting for a Site/Section Engineer working on a substation construction project in Suffolk. The role supports the planning, delivery, and close-out of various civil engineering and infrastructure packages on-site, with technical oversight, inspections, and coordination responsibilities.



The individual will act as a key site-based engineer, ensuring quality, safety, and planning standards are met while liaising between the site and office teams.

Duties


Managing technical queries.

Producing and reviewing CAD sketches and engineering drawings.

Raising and managing Material Acceptance Requests (MARs).

Witnessing inspections, ensuring plans are followed.

Managing and reviewing site surveys from the site engineering team.

Overseeing testing and inspection regimes.

Handling quality assurance and close-out documentation.

Involved in front-end engineering planning.

Managing earthworks, drainage, reinforced concrete, steel frame buildings, cladding, and other infrastructure-related works.

Ensuring work is delivered to a high technical standard.

Managing various registers and records.

Supporting the handover/close-out process of works packages.

Acting as "eyes and ears on site" for the management team.

Liaising between office-based and site-based teams (Watford and Suffolk).

Reporting to senior managers


Occasional travel to Watford HQ as needed (1 day/week typical).

Person Specification


HNC/HND or higher in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related engineering discipline.

Strong site engineering experience.

Understanding of technical principles in civil engineering works.

Experience with infrastructure and industrial buildings.

Familiarity with quality assurance processes.

Contract Type: Permanent


Hours: Full Time - 40 hours - Monday to Friday
