We are now looking for a Lecturer - Section Leader in Voice to join us on a full time permanent basis .

- THE ROLE -

You will lead on voice activity within the Academy and will be required to devise a range of teaching and assessment materials, covering several modules and subject areas. You will deliver teaching in a variety of different learning environments and use a variety of teaching styles and approaches, including all levels of undergraduate study and, where appropriate, postgraduate study. You will offer both academic and pastoral feedback and support to students to the highest professional standards and with regard to the ongoing enhancement of the student experience. You will undertake scholarship, research, training or project work, either individually or within a team, to ensure ongoing professional development and to enhance the profile of the Academic Discipline, Institute and University. You will make a positive contribution to the day-to-day activities of the Academic Discipline that may cover areas such as dissertation supervision, student recruitment, marketing activities, research seminars and workshops, staff training and professional development.

You will be a member of the WAVDA Management Team under the supervision of the Academy Directors, will liaise effectively with the Institute\'s Management Team and, in conjunction with the Academic Director (Design & Performing Industries), contribute to cross directorate activity with colleagues and students at the Swansea and Carmarthen Campuses. A critical element of the role is maintaining effective partnerships with relevant elements of the performing industries sector to ensure curriculum currency, experiential learning for students and progression opportunities for graduates.

- ABOUT YOU -

To be considered as a Lecturer - Section Leader in Voice , you will need:

  • An honours degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience.
  • A breadth of professional experience in singing as a performer and educator covering a breadth of musical styles, such as Musical Theatre, Classical, Pop, Rock and/or Jazz
  • A broad and comprehensive understanding of various vocal technique approaches suitable for vocational Classical, Popular and Musical Theatre HE programmes
  • Experience in teaching, delivery, assessment and student support at undergraduate and postgraduate level in relevant subject area
  • Experience in the design and development of module content
  • Evidence of good organisational and personal management skills
  • Evidence of excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively
  • IT proficiency and experience of using e-resources including a willingness to teach by video-link, VLE, e-mail or website delivery
  • Demonstrate knowledge and awareness of new and emerging technologies and solutions available to prepare for the future demands of a sustainable performing industries sector
  • Evidence of ability to balance competing pressures of teaching, scholarship, research, administrative demands and deadlines.
It would also be beneficial if you had:
  • A post graduate qualification in a relevant discipline
  • Membership of a relevant professional body or teaching qualification.
  • Experience of supervising postgraduate and research students.
  • Ability to communicate through the medium of Welsh (oral and written).
