Brief Description
What will you be doing?
The Distribution and Plant function is a key discipline in the operation of the railway. The infrastructure that the Doncaster team is responsible for includes a huge variety of electrical and mechanical equipment and installations. Just a few: High Voltage switchgear and control systems; Standby generators (up to 500kvA); UPS systems; Outdoor high mast lighting; Heating systems for railway track points; Air conditioning systems; Low Voltage building and highway type installations and switchgear, and even a one of a kind in the world rail over canal moving bridge.
The Section Supervisor works hand in hand with the Section Manager to assist leading and to deliver the day to day maintenance, fault response and renewal and replacement of the equipment. This is achieved by maintaining and developing a preventative maintenance plan utilising computer software systems and directing skilled tradespersons. The Section Supervisor leads a team which includes Skilled Team Leaders and Technicians and works with the support of a Planner and an Administrator role.
The Doncaster D&P Section covers a large geographical area across Central East Coast Main Line, Sheffield and North Lincolnshire and there will be extensive requirement for travelling around the area

About the role (External)
Who are we looking for?
Enthusiastic, motivated, driven Electrical/Mechanical Tradesperson / Electrician / Engineer, with demonstrable experience in leading teams and individuals.
You will have a strong commitment to working safely and in line with required safety rules and procedures.
You will have stamina and flexibility and be comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions and varied shifts including nights and weekends.
You will have a full driving licence and be willing to undergo a medical assessment including drugs and alcohol testing.
If you don't have an electrical or mechanical engineering qualification and/or training, please don't apply.
Essential criteria to be met by candidates:
Able to demonstrate, promote and embed safe working behaviours within the team
Able to coach, influence and develop others
Able to lead and implement change and improvement initiatives
Excellent communication and influencing skills, both in person and in writing
Comfortable working shifts including days, nights and weekends
