About the Role!




As Sector Lead - Utilities, you'll develop Nixon Hire's position as a trusted partner to leading utility and maintenance contractors across water, gas, electricity, and telecommunications. You'll align our service offering with the critical needs of framework-driven, compliance-heavy utility projects.

Key Responsibilities



Identify and engage with key contractors such as Morrison Water Services, Kier Utilities, Clancy, Amey, M Group Services, Balfour Beatty Utilities. Understand relevant legislation and frameworks including Ofgem, Ofwat, DNO and IDNO frameworks, HAUC regulations, and HSG47. Develop and execute a sector-specific go-to-market strategy to secure framework and single-contract awards. Track major projects and frameworks to identify early engagement opportunities. Collaborate with internal teams to ensure Nixon Hire's offering aligns with contractor requirements on cost, compliance, and carbon reduction. Represent Nixon Hire at key industry events such as Utility Week Live and Energy Networks Association events.

Sector Drivers



AMP8 (2025-2030) investment cycles driving water infrastructure upgrades. Expansion of electricity grid connections and telecoms network rollout (5G & fibre). Ongoing focus on safety, sustainability, and network resilience.

Success Measures



Achievement of annual framework and contract award targets within the UK utilities sector. Contribution to a 25% year-on-year increase in utilities revenue. Delivery of detailed market intelligence reports and strategic insights to inform Nixon Hire's go-to-market plans. Support internal teams in achieving operational excellence and compliance with client standards.

About you!




You should have:

3 years' minimum experience in that given sector. Experience liaising with and influencing high level stakeholders and presenting in board meetings to customers. Demonstrates professional standards of behaviours at all times. Proven experience in business development, sales, or account management within the relevant sector. Strong understanding of procurement processes, frameworks, and major contractor relationships. Ability to interpret and apply relevant industry legislation, compliance standards, and sustainability requirements. Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills at senior levels. Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and deliver market-entry and growth plans. Highly self-motivated, commercially astute, and results oriented.
