The Originations team in J.P. Morgan's Securitised Products Group (SPG) is a private-side, client-facing business area that markets, structures, finances and distributes bonds and loans backed by a range of collateral types. This team works with a wide selection of clients, including banks, hedge funds, private equity sponsors, corporates and asset managers.
Job Responsibilities:
As part of your role, you will support team members in the above activities so your work and contributions will be valuable to the team from the start. Tasks include, but are not limited to:
Preparing and updating marketing presentations to be delivered to clients
Analysing /modelling of collateral data and cash flow models
Reviewing deal documentation and collateral audits as and when required
Assisting syndicate and sales force in the distribution to institutional investors
Marketing: involves identifying business opportunities and pitching to, and negotiating with, SPG's clients - generally in partnership with the relevant client coverage areas of the firm (Investment Banking Coverage, Credit Sales, Debt Capital Markets, Corporate Banking, etc.)
Structuring: generally involves detailed quantitative and analytical analysis; cash flow modelling; commercial terms negotiation; and review of legal documentation. Team members interact with, and often direct the work of, a range of external parties including credit rating agencies, transaction sponsors, lawyers, auditing firms, co-arrangers, and co-placement agents.
Financing: includes evaluating and executing opportunities for J.P. Morgan to act as lender to SPG clients; often this includes analytical risk analysis as well as extensive commercial negotiation with clients
Distributing:includes liaising with J.P. Morgan's dedicated Syndicate team and Sales force, who are tasked with identifying institutional investors interested to purchase the bonds/loans created by the SPG Originations team - both in Europe and globally
Note that this is not a sales or trading role; rather it is a private-side origination and structuring role that has a number of similarities with traditional Investment Banking roles.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities , and Skills
Knowledge of the financial industry and debt capital markets, including clear understanding of technical concepts
Demonstrates strong verbal and written communication skills
Possesses strong attention to detail, analytical, time management, organisational and relationship building skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and Alteryx
Familiarity with Intex
Bachelor Degree or equ ivalent
Working proficiency in European language (in addition to English)
Adaptable to work demanding and evolving responsibilities, maintaining work ethic
This role encompasses the performance of UK regulated activity. The successful candidate will therefore be subject to meeting UK regulatory requirements in the assessment of fitness, propriety, knowledge and competence (as assessed by the Firm) and (where appropriate) approval by the UK Financial Conduct Authority and/or the Prudential Regulation Authority to carry out such activities.
