Typical Activities

Maintain and manage the company's Security Management Plan (SMP) and associated policies, including Facilities, Personnel, and IT Security. Monitor, coordinate and support all aspects of company security operations to ensure protection of personnel, property and information. Identify security risks, contribute to risk treatment plans, and ensure incidents are properly recorded and addressed to prevent recurrence. Collaborate with business leads and external accreditors to ensure security compliance, including ISO27001 and Cyber Essentials. Support the vetting process in partnership with People & Culture. Ensure company compliance with government security frameworks, including SALs, DEFCONs, and relevant legislation. Lead security awareness initiatives and onboarding training for new staff. Maintain strong working relationships with commercial and government security advisors. Manage the security service desk and support internal security queries. Oversee the control and destruction of protectively marked material and manage the company's crypto accounts and key production functions. Contribute to company-wide incident management and broader security-related events.

What We're Looking For:

Proven experience in a security role within government or industry handling government assets. Strong working knowledge of the Government Security Policy Framework (e.g., GovS007, HMG IS4, MOD JSPs). Experience leading a small security team with the ability to guide, motivate and train. Ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing, with internal teams and external stakeholders. Comfortable producing security documentation, metrics reports, and risk assessments. Confident working autonomously or collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Self-motivated with strong time management and a proactive, problem-solving approach. Willing to adapt and stay current with legislation, technology, and security best practices.
Desirable Skills:

Relevant qualifications such as DISA - Role of the Security Controller, CISSP or equivalent. Familiarity with commercial and contractual security requirements in defence or high-assurance environments. Understanding of cryptographic practices, key material handling, and classified material control. Experience working with IT security and infrastructure teams to align operational security practices with system security requirements.
