What we are recruiting for:
We are recruiting for a Security Manager to join our Regional Construction business as part of our Public Sector team on a 320m programme of works. Bovis have been awarded four projects across the country in Kent, Gloucester, West Sussex and Doncaster. All projects are currently in a preconstruction phase, with a start on site late 2025. During the initial preconstruction phase, this role will be based in our regional offices in Birmingham/London, with a requirement to visit and support the individual sites.
The Security Manager will lead, manage and coordinate all aspects of Security and Vetting process for this programme of works.
This is a hands-on role, and you will be working closely with Bovis Senior Management Team as well as with other internal and external specialists (including information technology, consultants and suppliers) to create an operational security management strategy to meet Bovis needs and those of our public and private customers.
You will need to be able to manage the expectation of the client and their representatives to ensure that Bovis remain in compliance with the Security Standards, contract requirements and specific contract clauses appropriate to the Sensitive Information Management Environment.
As the Security Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the security and compliance of our Public Sector Projects. You will be responsible for supporting the management and maintenance of security policies and procedures, working closely with stakeholders to maintain required certifications.
Training, Awareness and Audit are a core part of the role to ensure that Bovis people, our Consultants and Trade Contractors are able to implement security procedures ensuring that the application of company security procedures are implemented as well as ensuring that the application of security documents and processes hold their appropriate place in their activities.
You will ensure that the project is delivered in a safe, timely, efficient and sustainable manner, whilst achieving project targets, meeting client expectations and enhancing the reputation of the business
Your involvement will present direct contact with the decision makers within the business, offering technical knowledge, awareness, integration, guidance and advice. You will integrate in multi-disciplinary project teams, throughout the procurement and construction process. To set up, procure and direct the safe, efficient installation, completion and close out of the project needs and prescribed parameters within budget and within programme.
The place of work will be within our regional office and require regular visits to the 4 sites.
Above all else for this role a positive attitude is essential, someone who will quickly interact and complete the task under their own initiative. This role also requires a high level of administrative discipline and attention to detail across all aspects of security protocols. The role will be varied and unpredictable as it needs to respond to various situations, whether dealing with subcontractors through the security process or the client and their security audit team. Its reactive nature must take precedence to assist the project teams in resolving issues, but all feasible time should be spent proactively preventing issues arising through site visits and audits.
Roles & responsibilities:
The primary responsibility for the Security Manager involves coordinating security management and requirements across the Bovis Public Sector portfolio. Developing security process and strategy documentation on matters of project governance and assurance, IT system compliance, Personnel security and assurance (vetting), and Security Management Plans for individual. Other key responsibilities include:Apply MoJ security policies and any other relevant standards in a way that best supports the needs of the company, whilst remaining compliant with all mandated requirements Identifying and understanding the risks and appropriate corresponding controls to maintain the security, confidentiality, integrity, availability of information and assets across the Bovis MoJ portfolio. Support project teams to develop detailed logistics and security minded delivery strategies for our projects. Provide security advice and audit services covering suppliers and sub-contractors that deliver work on MoJ projects ensuring compliance with relevant standards. Verify through audit that the controls are in place for supply chain to be 100% compliant with security paperwork and requirements of MoJ and other government project requirements to agreed frequencies Ensure our supply chain complies with the appropriate security controls outlined in our contracts and by the MoJ. Security management and providing advice and guidance of security requirements for site offices and locations where MoJ assets are held. To deliver in person or virtual Security related cultural interventions and training on all matters relating to the delivery of a MoJ secure project and other associated government standards. Provide assistance in the interpretation of security requirements for establishments and provide recommendation and process The Company may also require from time to time that you to fulfil, within reason, other duties aligned to your position

Key Competencies:Ability to guide and steer project teams in the delivery of MoJ Security Standards Ability to guide the HMG Security Management protocols, processes and procedures for project wide application Able to provide technical training. Proven document and information audit competence Capability to influence site teams and sub-contractors to achieve the correct levels of security performance Ability to interpreted data into improvement plans Ability to continually improve both process and procedures within the business Ability to maintain the confidentiality of all applicant's information Ability to direct sub-contractors in aspects of Security Management Ability to present ideas and messages relating to security to site teams, members of the business and sub-contractors. Ability to approach sensitive and personal subjects in a tactful, professional and sympathetic manner whilst still arriving at the correct answer for security Ability to question beyond evidence provided

(E Essential / D Desirable)Be a UK National (E) Background in Security/Security Clearances/Security Management (E) Proven knowledge of National Vetting Processes and Application across Secure Projects (E) Previous experience working within Government high security estate or similar High Security Environment (E) Current Holder of National Security Vetting "SC", or prepared to go through the National Security Vetting process (with no restrictions) (E) Proven document and information Auditing ability (E) Previous Construction Phase planning experience within a government sector (E) Flexible and adaptable to various workloads and deadlines and circumstances (E) Ability to work on own initiative (E) Ability to train and coach (E) Competent in management of data in accordance with GDPR Data Protection act 2018 and Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (E) Meticulous approach to the role of security management (E) Ability to maintain professional at all times when put in challenging situations (E) Commercial and financial understanding on the construction works cycle, ability to contribute to value engineering as part of the security design process (E) Written and verbal communication to influence and build relationships (E) Ability to influence and lead teams (E) Holder of SMSTS (E) Holder of a DISA IPSA and/or Security Controller certification or similar (D) Please note that due to the nature of this role, national security vetting procedures apply and a full UK security check will be carried out for the successful candidate.
